S5-E8 was epic. No other way to put it. Didn't see that level of spectacle coming...

Episode 8 is very good but i fail to see what makes it exceptional. Was it because of the monster batlle ?

No, stuff that.

GoT - how can you kill off the last remaining decent character in your ever-fragmenting hotchpotch storyline?

The killing of Jon Snow is exactly what I feared for the series - sub plot fractals, character dilution, tenuous continuity now seem to be the order of business for a series anchored solely in its ability to dish up shock value.

Why is Jon Snow death different from the one in the books ?

The Shame or the last part?

Yea "the shame" was brutal, as much as I hated Cerci, I felt bad. But I meant the whole show - the twists and turns. And the way it jerks your emotions. I agree with Martin when he says shock value, is it's staple. But I also think it is a more true depiction of a brutal world than the usual "good triumphs over evil" that is so ubiquitous in Hollywood.

And yes, I do think, JJ Martin is a certified sadist and he now has the whole world as his victim.

can't wait to see how this will go, it does however seem to have taken a much darker tone than volume 1 and 2 as noted by the intro (outro in the first episode of all volumes)

and not to mention the heartwarming intro and the Monty Oum signature at 2:31

The Night Manager.

Based on a novel by John Le Carre (my favourite writer) with Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie.

Saw the first episode yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. The script, the story and the performance of everyone involved was top notch.

Forgot bout this thread. Watched a bunch of good shows recently (funny enough, the quality of the TV I watch went up drastically since canceling cable).

Man in the High Castle - 8/10
Occupied - 9/10
The Clone Wars - 9/10. Regret not watching it earlier.
Started watching Orphan Black, recently, loving it. but only 4 episodes, so no "rating".

Oh, here's another amazing mini-series I discovered last month. "The Saboteurs", or "The Heavy Water War" or "Kampen om tungtvannet"

A Norwegian/ Danish/ British co-production based on a true story that takes place during the last months of WWII. Amazing scenery, good pace, strong story.

Definitely worth a watch. As far as I am concerned, I saw all 6 episodes in two nights. It was well worth trading sleep for that.

This looks fantastic. A villainous Hugh Laurie? Sign me up.

I've heard nothing but great things about Orphan Black.

Person of Interest. Some of the episodes where it's their "case of the day," it can get derivative. But I like the overall debate of artificial intelligence, national security, etc. that I find engrossing. The writers and creators have done a masterful job creating all these indivdual storylines and connecting them over the last 4 seasons. And there's a lot of action as well. I think it's a shame that they only renewed it for a truncated season, and what looks like to be their final season too.
