In terms of viewership on Prime, it's one of the highest viewed shows on the platform, so it's technically a big success. Production quality is on another level compared to TG.
In terms of Jeremy/Richard/James, their reputation from the heyday of Top Gear precedes them and it is now writing checks they're not always able to cash. Many of their antics and jokes feel forced.
And it's kind of annoying how their audiences laugh at everything they say.

Looking forward to the new season. Hopefully they get rid the fat stereotypical American driver; nothing about the concept was humorous.
