The Chinese copycats thread


Watching a video of the Chinese auto show floor, I must have counted 20 copies of different brands that were almost exact replicas of the Defender and Range Rover models. I don't even understand how to choose between them.

The worst part is that they end up selling more of the copy than the original, which must hurt. In my country, the two KIA copycats we have here outsell it by a factor of 30 to 1.
 
The Chinese public's view that this was a copycat show makes me wonder if the law can't do anything; it won't be long before they dare to copy 911, it's the only thing they're missing.

Insightful but accurate. The car in the Electric era is now an appliance. And the Chinese have mastered the art of turning automobiles into familiar looking appliances covered in western design aesthetics.
