The Caffeine Thread

i think i got mine for around $100usd. it was more of an impulse buy, the coffee brews at a painfully slow rate and is inconsistent at best. but it looks cool, and thats what counts :D

I was once in a café where they made the water boil with a light bulb. They had some expensive coffee such as Blue Mountain but I ended up drinking some Ethiopian coffee. ;)

I guess 100 is either expensive not or depending on how much you like coffee...for me, that's expensive. Then again, I'm the type of person who will buy $400 cell phone and a month later buy another $400 cell phone because I like the "New" features...LOL :D

i actually have one of those coffee machines, but mines a hario syphon. honestly though, i've only used it about 5 or 6 times in the 7 years i've had it. mostly when guests ask for a demonstration.

Hey Notic:

I'm curious.. how does it work?

I mean does it take long to make coffee? Is it espresso-like or tea-like?

Anybody know of any good Caffeine/Energy drinks that have a low amount of sugar?

I haven't played with it in awhile, but i think the coffee goes on top above a replaceable filter in the top compartment and the water goes on the bottom. then light the fire underneath and moisture goes up the glass pipe. after awhile, the moisture will accumulate to the top and filter through the coffee and into the pot below. and yes, it takes a long time to do this all the way from set up to clean up. i remember the coffee i brewed wasn't very much like espresso (but i may have done it the wrong way), so i guess tea like (i've never tried, but i think this can also be used to brew tea).

I'll give it a try, I like coffee but its not always as easily accessable all the time or as thirst quenching.

The gum Ive been using, I thing I have become immune too, and it is very sugary.

Some of my friends insist that "Sugar Free ROCKSTAR" and "Zero Carb ROCKKSTAR" are good.

I never tasted them , they both contain Sucralose ( the generic SPLENDA).

Both have zero sugars and lots-a-caffeine.

Personally, I'm hooked on Starbucks "DOUBLESHOT LIGHT" . It's made of espresso and cream and comes in cans.

It (also) has SPLENDA in it.

i gotta throw in my recomendation for the sbux double shot as well (but the regular version instead). its tasty and it keeps me more awake longer than most energy drinks. unfortunately its not available in canada so i stock up when i make trips to seattle.

Do any of you guys (and ladies ;) ) drink tea?

Sometimes I much prefer tea to coffee. Black tea and green tea, I like them both.

I drink a cup (or two) of tea a day, mostly green tea. Just basic bagged stuff though, I'm not a connoisseur of the tea-preparing art.

Yes, tea is much better. I always like to try new flavours. ;)
