Let's face it. You are old. Really old. You only have like hours left. So, you lie there (lying, or not), waiting for the grim reaper to come and, well, reap your petrol infested soul. So, what are you thinking of? Your lovely family? No, they are there and you know them and cherish them, but no, that's not what's occupying your mind. That girl (or guy) that got away? No, not really, the thaught of them now, wrinkly and, well most probably dead, no.
What will be picking your brain, is the thaugt of those special cars. The ones that were too scarse, too dear or simply not right at the time. You know, the priorities were elsewhere - kids, safety, economic soundness...
I know I have a quite a few cars on my list. Here are four, in no particular order.
1. BMW E82 1-series M
The ugly duckling got an even uglier sibling. It did go with a bang and left us with one of the coolest BMW:s in recent years - maybe most of all because it did not get the badge, but delivered a package so good that the badge-buyers would not have had it anyway.
2. BMW E46 CSL
Brilliant concept. Brilliant execution. Taking on the Ferrari 360 CS and the Porsche GT3 RS at their own game and at a bargain. Well worth keeping, for reference. Otherwise, the kids will think you made it up.
3. Triumph TR6
Who could resist this beautiful roadster? Straight six and zero chance of surviving a collision with just about anying. Just wafting around the countryside. Ray-Bans are optional.
4. Porsche Cayman R
The Cayman dropped like a bomb. It was the proper handling 911. It was cheap. It could be had with an automatic gearbox, but the press hated it and it rightfully killed sales of that option. It is what the 911 should have been from the beginning. The R represents everyting good about Porsche, and at Carrera money. Looking forward to the next iteration.
Now, give me yours! What cars are you trying not to miss?
