@Padi me o'l mucker a 12 Hour race!? Your fit and decicated for sure. Great bike and thanks for sharing!(y)

Friend of mine is the sole distributor for Shimano parts here in SA, had learnt a lot about cycling from him. Though admittedly I am too lazy to get in the saddle myself.
Not a race, I just tend to go cycling every free day that I've got for 8-12 hours, if I'm not doing some other sport that is. Finished the day off with some swimming and workout :P Lets see how long I manage to cycle tomorrow.. :P

Yeah, you should get in to it, there is nothing better than just blazing down a trail, mastering a new trick or just gather enough balls to jump some new jump or gap you've built. Love it! :)

Mikä muuten oli se suomalainen pyörävalmistaja, joka teki rungot kokonaan hiilikuidusta, ja hinnat oli lähellä kymppitonnis? Sorry for the others, if I didn't speak in English :)
Finnpower, paska kaikin puolin, Suomen isoin häpeäpilkku :'( Sun jälkeen tietysti ;)

The best bike in the world, and I have this one (y)

Small update.

Got a new Sram X9 Type2 derailleur, as my old Sram X0 DH derailleur decided to die :( Can't notice a difference TBH, the new clutch systems are overrated I'd say.. Did cope today's 12 hour cycling well though, no complaints at all.

And I just love Fat Alberts. Copes well on rocks, in mud, on dust, roots and hardpack, roll well, are reasonably light and survive a beating (rather big gaps, drops to flat et.c.). Couldn't be happier with them.

Next upgrades: Vivid Air, new SDG i-fly

Padi, do you think I'm going to be fine by using X9 rather than X0 and save some bucks in the process?

You lazy BMW fanboy. Get a bike and tone up those legs and bum :D

Yup, can't speak for the X0 type 2, but I doubt you'll feel any difference between them. Go for the X9:s for sure :)

Will ask you some questions this week. I'm fully recovered after the varicocele surgery and want to bike again :)

Sorry to hear, great you've recovered though! I've been sick myself, and had my bike in pieces a month, rebuilt it last week, and it is just impossible to keep me off the saddle now :D Would like some time to be with friends, play tennis, jog, swim et.c. as well, but the cycling just steals all my pastime :(

Hi guys,

I was curious about the braking performance of a bicycle, so today I did some 25-5 kph tests with my MTB.
It's really hard to manage full braking-power with the front brake, so the results are depending on the riders bravery of course.

My best run with the 160mm-disk was 4,15 metres, the second best was 4,72 m.
Average G was around 0.6, peak was 0.75 G @ 8 km/h (at this point I was standing on the front wheel, very close to "the edge"). :D

Anyway, it was fun. And I was really impressed that even a bike can managed that high G-forces.

Would be interesting to count how many G:s you get in a tight, fast berm or landing a bigger jump as well. Is that Racelogic some phone app, or some proper equipment?

Racelogic Performance Tools is the data-analyzing software on my laptop. My measuring equipment is the RaceChrono app on my smartphone paired with a 10Hz GPS-receiver.

As far as I know RaceChrono has an option which also uses the internal G-sensor of the phone. I should try this as well. :)

And this is how I did my measuring (here a 0-30-0 kph acceleration-braking test). With enough bravery I was able to reach 1.1 G for a tenth of a second. :)

Small update. New seat and derailleur. Had an XO one before, replaced it with an X9 Type2, as the X0 broke. Can't notice any difference between them.

Padi!!!!! I *might* buy a new bike. Tell me buddy, what's your opinion on Giant bikes? I'm looking at a Giant Talon 2, it comes with Sram X7 and Shimano Deore parts.....

Sorry, not a big fan. Especially since they're discontinuing 26" bikes from what I've heard. But for what it is, good spec! Go for it if it feels right :)
