Flying Spur The Bentley Flying Spur. Love it or hate it, it's still a very good car.

I was at a Bentley dealer yesturday...The sales guy didnt like me.

He goes
"the continental flying spur is the fastest four door in the world" and I replied, "no its not. The S65 is way quicker and faster, along with the M5"
"so you going to buy a car or not"....pretty funny stuff.

Heh, that's pretty funny.

That's what you get when you throw out some useless sales crap. Usually I don't have the guts to tell them they're wrong - I just ignore whatever they say, in silence. Like when someone tried to pass off 6 airbags (front x2, front side x2, and tried to make out curtain x2 as front curtain x2, rear curtain x2) as 8 airbags, or when they bag out competitors as some such.. useless trivial stuff, but wrong nevertheless.

Technically the S65 is more powerful with it's 612hp (Flying Spur 552hp), and the Merc is quicker to 100kmh by about half a second, but the S65's top speed is limited to 250Kmh whereas the Bentley's top speed is 306kmh.

True, but Bentley would smoke the exhaust of 65 if it was delimited...:D

Flying Spur orgy.

The paintjob is really awesome. It sets off the car's contours somewhat. They do it at the same place as the Phaeton... And if you maintain the exterior well, it would look spankin' good.

Actually he brought that up later.....and I laughed saying it was a bad sales pitch because its pretty much not true.... It is super easy to d-chip these cars. You can actually do it without even adding anything to your car but by programming.

You could probably even just ask nicely.

Those black Spurs look halfway decent - the headlights become prominent enough to give that little bit more contrast to the front end.

That's true. The salesman was right.:D

Well the S65 is a lot more powerful but it's [front] brakes are not as huge as the Bentley's 405mm diameter and 36mm wide discs (rear 335mm discs); S65: front 390mm discs / rear 365mm discs.

With all it's extra AMG moldings, the S65 might not always make the best impression in some circles ...but perhaps a Maybach 57S would be preferable if the S65's appearance is just not dignified enough.

The S65 is also very very expensive (but I don't think that would be a problem for potential buyers), overall however, the Flying Spur is more discreet than the S65 and represents better value for money -- in fact, when you put the Flying Spur up against the Maybach 57S, it is difficult to justify the massive price difference.

Yea he was right, but my point was it was a bad argument because the only thing keeping that true was the "gentlemen's agreement" of all the german manufacturers.

I don't mind the styling of the Flying Spur :)

Although if I were to buy a vehicle in this catergory it would be the Phaeton in LWB form with V10TDI in Campanella White ;)

Do you mean like the stretched one in your Avatar?

The Phaeton is a very desirable car ...and of course the Flying Spur shares the Phaeton's platform.

Great choice! It would be my choice colour and choice engine as well. :D
