A4/S4/RS4 [Tests] Audi RS4 Avant

^Haven't driven the RS4 yet but I would guess it drives a bit different due to its differing weight distribution and suspension tuning (Avant vs Coupe) and this is the general opinion of most reviews as they usually favour the 4 over the 5.

I never take too much stock with regards to reviews as I don't know if they have "motives" to write what they write. I do read them though!

I would love it if someone "real" has driven both cars and just told me in simple English what they thought. Reviews go over my head most times. I just know how to start the engine and drive!

Guess for me maybe my time with Audi comes to an end. Need 4 doors but if this is the same car, seems silly. I have been silly already with A5, S5 and RS5 anyway. A nice BMW 6 Series Grand Coupe? Only issue I have is no button to close the boot! ha

^If you only need seats for four then the 6GC is probably the most stylist looking of all though a bit pricey. Regarding the whole RS4 vs RS5 question and how different they will feel, the reality is it will be subtle at best because there's little is different, a bit like A3 vs Golf.

Maybe something like the S6 should also be on your radar because its as quick as your RS5, handles remarkably well for its size and probably better than the 6GC and little need to dip into the option bucket.

Well, I rather have 5 seats ie three at the back, hence why the question on the 6 series Grand Coupe. Also I cannot get over them not having a button in the boot to close the boot. Cars at this level should have it standard. Same as pressure doors.

I don't like the S6 at all. It was recommended to me also by someone within Audi here who sort of knows my taste. Had a look at the pictures and not impressed. First thing is to like what the car looks like right?

Also a big change for me is that I can consider giving up power for a comfortable drive!! Seriously. The RS went in for servicing the other day and they lent me a Q5. Initially, I thought the handbrake was somehow up as the car did not move!! Then after about two days, i started liking the smooth easy drive. I also like my view from high up. It got to the point when I did not want to give back the Q5 when the RS was ready!!

RS4, comfortable drive, 6 series..nothing is clear....Ponder ponder...may just drive the RS for a while more maybe.....but just wondered about the RS4

Why do you wanna leave Audi, when they have such amazing sedans now, as for example the new S6? I agree, the 6er GC is a beautiful car, but damn overpriced. I would take the beauty S6 in a blink of an eye. And regarding your RS5, vs the new RS4, there is probably more changes than you think. I mean, the pre-facelift RS5 got some bad reviews from the press, but the facelifted one, got some great reviews, and that they "fixed" all the errors and bad handling that the pre-facelift had. It still was/is a amazing car, but it itsnt as good as the new facelifted RS5. And so if the RS4 is anything like the new RS5, it's a top notch car! Magazines have already said that the RS4 B8 is the best RS-Audi ever.

2 reasons:: 1) tired of Audi. I have had 4 in a row 2) really dislike the distributors here. Makes me not want to give them anymore money!

I hear you on the new RS4. Really had caught my eye. Hence why I am so ready to walk but just keep looking over my shoulder at the RS4 and want more information about it. One thing I don't like? The new lights. I know the lights have been discussed in here and I really prefer my older shaped lights.

No way on the S6. I just don't like the shape of the car.

I am currently waiting the arrival of an SQ5 after switching my deposit from the RS4, it might be worth waiting to drive one of these because the change in driving style might be a breath of fresh air. Word is that such is its power delivery that in normal day to day driving It feels more potent than the RS4 which in turn includes the RS5. I know a supplier of mine who currently drives an RS5 has an SQ5 on order because of a baby on the way.

There you go...I liked the height and drive of the Q5 so will I like the SQ5? Sigh...

Actually, would love to see the SQ5. I thought the Q5 they gave me looked and felt cheap. Lots of plastic. Did not think it was very well done.

SQ5 is probably out thought as I presume is the same size as Q5 and golf clubs will not fit in the back unless I put a back seat down. Seems silly when i can fit golf bags into the RS5.

Oh really? That had to be the base version man. Cause the Q5 3.2 Quattro S-Tronic that I got (don't know if you've seen it, but click here if you want to) , is a fantastic vehicle both from out, but specially inside. I am comparing that to the other Audis I've driven lately such as Q3, A5, S5, A4, S4 etc. First of all, it has got the better design and ergonomics than the A4 and A5. THe plastic feeling I got was exactly in the A4/A5! Probably your beautiful RS5 has a lot of carbon fiber and alumiumun where the normal A4/A5 has got plastic. I hated that. The Q5 I got is maxed out with options and it has got the MMI with Navi and rear view camera and all that. So it has got the MMI around the gearshift knob, where many "normal" Q5's have got them on the dashboard, and that sucks. What I'm trying to say is that you should take a look at the SQ5, and not take that cheap version they gave you for testdrive to seriously.

Oh for sure I will look at the SQ5. But for me, very very unlikely to buy cause of the golf bag issue. You notice I look for the smallest excuse not to go buy another car haha

The car they gave me was a courtsey car when mine was in the service centre. i shouldn't complain really hehe

Here is more stuff for the Audi RS4 Avant...What i can say, its a great car.

"Ultimately, this Audi is undermined by a finesse shortfall and a less than fully engaging dynamic personality, whether on road or track. It’s a weapon, and a magnificent sounding one at that, but it’s a little too crude in this company".

¨Translation anybody?

(PS. That RS2 Avant is pure sex. But my favorite of them all RS4's is the B5)

Yes, but the Audi RS2 Sedan is pure sex, too bad there is only two worldwide.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
