I'd bet that this is the 25k car. Looks like one , could be in that target.

Robotaxi should and probably will be cheap.

We'll have to wait until 8th of August for the full reveal

Tesla deletes its blog post stating all cars have self-driving hardware

Tesla has cleaned up its website’s blog section, deleting all posts prior to 2019. This includes the post titled “All Tesla Cars Being Produced Now Have Full Self-Driving Hardware,” which was originally published October 19, 2016.
(...)
Those articles are all missing from the website as of now. They can be found through archive.org, but everything prior to 2019 seems to have been deleted from Tesla’s servers.

Tesla originally made this bold statement back in 2016, leading purchasers to think that autonomy was just around the corner, and that hardware upgrades wouldn’t be required to get us there. That statement remained on the website until yesterday, giving Tesla’s tacit approval to the concept that current Tesla vehicles still fall under the same promise – that if you buy a Tesla right now, it will eventually be able to drive itself.
(...)
So far, none of these systems are truly autonomous and able to drive themselves unsupervised by a human driver. Tesla is now calling its system “FSD (Supervised)” to drive home the point that the cars are not yet driving themselves.

Those required hardware upgrades have been a nagging issue when it comes to FSD.

RIP who paid $7,500. The old hardware is obviouly no longer powerful enough to use current FSD.
Many fell in Musk's trap though.

Dying brand.

I don't know if Elon is to blame , or the shareholders for the greed, either way , Tesla is on a steep downtrend.

For such a cool and super high tech cars , to a almost stagnant car manufacturer that it has become in the past 2-3 years...

RIP who paid $7,500

They'll be fine. They've been making, what, $30,000 a year from their Model 3 for a while already...

.. what? Wait, that wasn't a lie was it?

I don't know if Elon is to blame , or the shareholders for the greed,

Elon's the greediest of the shareholders, so probably right on both counts.

This is such a lame presentation. And the product itself is even more stupid.

And this is because of a real actual reason: FSD is still not there !

If FSD will be good enough for this Cab , it will be good enough for Model 3.

Why would you pay 30k for this one-purpose thing , and not add a few thousands more and get the real deal/day-to-day use/multiple purpose car like a Model 3?

This is JUST another dust in the wind , just to keep the media printing....

The Cybertruck hype is about to die , and the Plaid mania is loosing it's momentum. They needed some more buzz

Tesla is trying to keep its declining popularity alive. These vehicles are unlikely to enter production in the near future. It will take many years for this to happen. First, they must offer level 3 autonomy to their current cars. It is not even easy to get approval for this.

This is the Model S yoke all over again. Some people didn’t want it and a steering wheel became optional.

Likewise with Cab, there will be a steering wheels and pedal to make it a…………Model 2 with full self driving which it was before Tesla rebranded it Cab. Until the tech becomes bullet proof, I think regulators will mandate steering wheels and pedal for taking control of the vehicle in the event of emergencies.

They have satiated that the car won’t use lidar but will instead use cameras and AI. Does that means that it will be capable of self driving in a way that recent Teslas’s can’t?

Two seats is a bit daft, a lot of the time when I use a taxi it's with 2 or more people usually to or from an airport with luggage.

This make much more sense with a steering wheel and pedals is a super cheap city car, but again it only has 2 seats, it's need 4 seats to be practical. Even though the back seat isn't large in my MINI we often drive my kids and 2 friends places.

How are the cameras going to work in heavy rain or snow?? In every vehicle I've owned the cruise control stops when the camera or sensors are unable to sense/see due to the weather. Today's Teslas have the same problem.

There is some stats that the majority of journeys, cars only have one occupants. This is especially true in some states in the US where you must have a car to get anywhere, whether it’s to work, the gym or grocery store.

2 seats will be fine for use as a taxi or as a company car IF the price target is met.

I know those states, but what happens when you need more seats?? This isn't a sports car.

There will be a model 3 or eventually a Cab with more seats. To begin with they are focusing on making the car as cheap as possible and to cater to single occupant journeys which is the biggest pie.

The below highlights why Elon Musk is able to attract billions in investment. He's a once in a lifetime entrepreneur who thinks 20 steps ahead. Whilst everyone is playing chequers, he's playing 4D chess. By the time you figure out what he's doing, you are 5 years too late to catchup.

He's thinking about transport from a 2, 3rd and 4th order effect. Robo taxi will likely attract billions in government subsidies and grants for sustainable transport. Furthemore, for xAi, he will need to build data centres. Instead of wasting land aquisition on parking lots, he'll use Robot taxis to shuttle people to and from work.

Example of order effects. Invention of the internet and impact on media/news impact:

1st order: I can access news stories about any country in the world without having to buy a physical news paper.
2nd order: A journalist can publish a new story at 21:00 and I can read it immedietly instead of having to wait for tomorrow's news paper.
3rd order: I can contribute to news by submitting photos/videos that I have recorded at an incident.
4th order: I as an influencer have tens of millions of followers who trust me more than they do their national newspaper.

The amount of space parking lots takes up in cities is massive and if they have to reduce the number of private cars on the roads and replace them with electric autonomous robocabs the land space for the parking lots can be used for parks with trees and plantations, which improve the health of all people on Earth as they will walk and exercise more and the CO2 and other greenhouse gases levels in cities will reduce dramatically.

Anyone who wants to drive, they can have a car to drive on the weekend at a race track or outside the city.

And where will all those autonomous cars park when they aren’t in use?
