Movies Star Wars Episodes I-IX general thread

Probably Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) or Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) ship on this first movie.

Another Leak...

Apparently this new Villain has "Grave Robbed" Darth Vader which is interesting that the new films will be more adult in tone?

Fire Across The Galaxy...

Not that Batman voice again.
Ben has big shoes to fill.
I don't know why, but I thought they'd be working together.

They probably will work together in the last 3rd of the movie.

Yeah, there are a few things that are a bit off-putting, especially the voice, but I am still looking forward to it.

Also, holy crap! The Star Wars trailer looks amazing-nuts, and I am not that big of a Star Wars obsessive. The trailer alone looks better than all 3 prequels combined, no hyperbole intended. Also I wouldn't mind if Daisy Ridley used the Force on me...she's super-cute. (I was going make a reference to using the Schwartz [Spaceball reference for those not in the know], but I thought I'd go the classier route in an attempt at fostering a sense of maturity)

I can watch this shot all day long, it's amazing how huge it is, the scope is incredible!

Absolutely. I know it's silly to say, but that shot alone and that the BB8 droid is not CGIed gives me hope that there's going to be some sense of substance instead of a giant sparkly commercial made to just hawk toys and other Star Wars-branded paraphenalia.

I read somewhere where JJ Abrams promised to use as many practical effects as possible(y)
Check out the BB-8 practical effect here:

Ah but that is what is all about not just Star Wars but other feature films that "merchandise" because that's where the money is made. The interesting thing about the Star Wars films is that they use every tool in the toolbox to achieve the intended vision. So like all the films of the prequels The Force Awakens will be no different mixing practical with models with CGi and puppetry.

Although it is interesting to see if the new age of Star Wars is actually a science fiction interpretation of The Dark Age of Europe. After the fall of the Roman Empire things were very fractured. No single power was able to put the whole back together and there were many pretenders.
The new "Empire" The First Order is reminiscent of the Holy Roman Empire. Maybe we will see some element of that on the screen. With the Sith trying to re-establish their greatest religious empire, like Charlagmane trying to re-establish a Christian empire in Europe.

I live for history...

And if you can't wait for Force Awakens then there is this. Set between Episode III and Episode IV focusing on the birth of the Rebel Alliance.

The Batman trailer looks awful there is nothing remotely seen that can match what the Star Wars trailer did. With the majority of focus on comic book film interpretations its only going to take one to ruin them all, then they have to rediscover creativity and originality once again.

Reactions: SKY
It always makes me smile that Scott here knows a lot of the details I know that, IMO, only the real freaks know about. The teaser has been simply fantastic. My reaction was comprable to that of a teenage girl watchin Justin Bieber live LOL.

I have always love Batman, but this new direction is not my cup of tea. I don´t like them crossovering it with Superman, nor Ben Affleck as the new Wayne.
