X5 [Spyshots] Next generation BMW X5 (3rd gen) 2015?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
i dont know what is the problem with BMW ?? X123456 what is the point ?? look at the mercedes they have G-CLASS the best 4X4 in the world and GL luxury for 7 with nice space with comfort and fastest (63) SUV for 7 and ML mid size SUV with sporty and comfort and off road capabilities and GLK lets don't forget all mercedes SUV have off road capabilities but BMW nothing !! and they said it is sporty :D and what about porsche?? it is more sporty and better then BMW in all conditions (off road - race track - on road) (Air suspension with 4 Level and 2 Diff lock- H/L) and i think Maserati and Lamborghini they will do like porsche (sporty with off road capabilities) and some people they will said it is more sporty then Porsche -Lamborghini-Maserati !! BTW when i said off road capabilities i don't mean land rover defender or G

A lot of it is the tires. The run flats are shit for off road. Granted, the tires are not the sole problem.

you are right but i mean ML for example have (2 diff lock adjustable air suspension 6-mode selectable terrain driving program system) X5 don't have anything like that !! it is like 5 series with X-Drive !! believe me ML 1998 and porsche Cayenne 2003 better in off road then BMW X5 2013 and the new one (3rd GEN) i don't know why BMW don't learn from land rover in the past !!

because basically nobody needs it? nobody is going offroad with x5 or ml

And therefore I salute BMW AG, their product portfolio planners, designers, engineers and management.

BMW always had, from the beginning, from the very first and MOST BRILLIANT and MORE SUCCESSFULL - E53 X5 - set that exact tone.

BMW also and with good reason called their X-drive variants: S A V's. Sport Activity Vehicles. Not promising or trying to make anyone believe that they are Bundu Bashers, no sir! They are BMW's at heart and thank you BMW, for at least trying to make the practical "Big SUV" as BMW as possible.

And I will repeat this: The more BMW look back to its roots in what is the heart and sole of The Ultimate Driving Machine AND the more the BMW distance and diffrentiate itself from Mercedes-Benz's image, the better for me - The Customer who is the core to the brand survival and the better for the BMW brand.

A BMW customer does not want nor need an SUV, between LAND ROVER / RANGE ROVER, TOYOTA, JEEP, FORD, SUZUKI, SUBARU, VAG, MERCEDES-BENZ, MAHINDRA, FOTON etc. there is more than enough players with brilliant products to satisfy your need to tackle the wilderness.

BMW, may God forbid, is not one of them;)

I rest my case.

I think you just out Clarksoned, Clarkson. Seriously, I have had some epic rants (I believe I even called Reithoffer a robotic penny- pincher in one of them), but that was quite a well thought out organized rant. Enough to give you three beard strokes. Congratulations!

Mr.DblPen it is good thing when you buy car with these options you will not lose anything in the same time You can compete with other companies (porsche - mercedes) ,, and some people they want that capabilities .

just imagine that Ferrari 458 top speed is limited to 200 km/h (no one need to drive that fast)

faster car from BMW (M6) accelerate from 0-100 in 4.2 thats enough who need 2.9 like Porsche 911 Turbo ?

who need BRABUS the AMG is enough

believe me some people prefer Cayenne and ML for that reasons ..yes more then 60% no need but at least make it as an options and you can check at the youtube you will find too much people trying to have fun in off road with X5 or ML

(range rover luxury car with 4X4 capabilities) (PORSCHE Cayenne sporty with 4X4 capabilities) (Mercedes ML comfort with 4X4 capabilities) you have complete package

Regards

yes sir BMW successful in all its cars not only X5 and achieved excellent sales but i am not talking about that i'm talking about competitors and what is the difference between them

BMW also and with good reason called theis X-drive variants: S A V's. Sport Activity Vehicles. Not promosing or trying to make anyone believe that they are Bundu Bashers, no sir! They are BMW's at heart and thank you BMW, for at least trying to make the practical "Big SUV" as BMW as possible.

Sir, I thought for a moment that you are talking about Ferrari or Porsche !! what you mean about (for at least trying to make the practical "Big SUV" as BMW as possible) Does this apply to ( 3 series GT - 5 series GT - 1 series hatchback - 3 series touring - 5 series touring ??!!

and this is marketing from BMW SAV or SUV Super SAV only names you know why sir ?? because 100% there is nothing special about X5 !! and i think you know that

Mercedes focus on comfort with the exception of some their cars like SL SLS C-BLACK SERIES and and SLS BLACK SERIES CLS in these cars you will have the sporty driving and comfort in the same time and that what i call it mercedes magic BTW Some want comfort and others want sporty and there is no excuse for BMW you know why sir ?
Driving pleasure are not inconsistent with the 4X4 capabilities and the proof is Porsche Cayenne much better in all conditions

there is a big difference between (mercedes benz - range rover) and toyota nissan jeep ford.....

BMW, may God forbid, is not one of them;)

Oh sir with all that cars from BMW X13456 and you think it is not one of them ?? or you think BMW with Porsche and upcoming Maserati-Lamborghini-Bentley ?

I rest my case.

An X8 is currently a brainstorming exercise for a future strategy.
The next X6 could make an X8 redundant as it gets more sportier , and separates visually with the X5 as previewed by the X4.
It all depends on how the Market responds and if the customer wants further choices from the X6.

They do want further choices after the X5 in an SAV.

Question: How would the X6 becoming sportier make an X8 redundant? An X8 would surely be considerably larger and less sporty than an X6.

well, you should probably ask bmw that, with all the success they have with X they dont need to fix anything. People buy suv's for all the wrong reasons, so bmw builds X's exactly for them

Completely disagree. Suv's offer good visibility, space, safety and are resilient on degraded and potholed roads. No brainer. I can't help but wonder if these poor folks would have survived if they were higher up. They were in the safest sedan in the world.

i completely disagree with you too, since i doubt you buy a car for better visibility, or that theres bigger cargo space than lets say 5 series touring. Now you have better safety, but you have laws of physics against you - worse consumption, handling, performance, driving feel, hard to park, sometimes hard to move in the cities... just not worth it imo, ppl buy suvs for image, i would only buy it if i needed to go offroad

No sir i will not ask BMW and i didn't ask anyone :) ,, i am only have opinion about this car

Nope - unless you're on a racetrack, the reality is cars like the x5 and cayenne handle just as well as other "ordinary" cars on the road. They are not difficult to navigate cities with either. Especially with active steering etc. X5 is corner to corner similarly sized to 5 series, just higher. Fuel consumption is still excellent on the diesels. Driving feel is also superior, as driving feel is subjective (diffent to the description of handling) and based on comfort (ie good visibility and sense of safety). I do like the odd touring though. New A3 and A6 sportbacks are pretty cool. But I'd still choose an SUV for myself.

do you live in USA?

Yeah it does sound like he lives where roads in general are quite wide. I reckon the Cayenne is about the easiest big SUV to place on the road but even then its not nearly as easy to drive quickly down a back road compared to a 5 series caliber car.
