Same here. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that the other thread had been closed. This is one long spyshot session, massive as well but that also applied to the S-class and C-class. Immense anticipation.

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

I would prefer spy pics showing a dark grey E-Class with the AMG trim, and aluminium on the interior, plus a proper three spoke steering wheel.

Elegance trim is ugly, but the car with the adecuate could look incredibly good without it.

I love the interior:icondrool

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

Looks like they are testing both the wood and aluminum trim in this interior... look at the area in between the seats... one side is wood, one side is aluminum and the drawer is aluminum... good to the see cupholders will be fully covered if wanted...

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

Interior looks very great, very cosy and upscale... Easily S-Class level it seems!!

However, concerning the cup-holders... yes they can be covered, however it seems there is only one cover for both the cupholders and the little space behind it, so that you have to open everything to put something in the storage space... I would've preferred two separate covers, one for the cupholder and one for the storage space behind it.

But it's a minor thing of course! Interior looks gorgeous so far!

The second car is an Elegance, it has no tailpipes... But LEDs and no double-fogs!! Guess it was fake after all, thank God!

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

This interior looks to be a "Classic" versions because look there is no wood behind the steering wheel and that's probably why they are testsing the two different trims between the seats...

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

The interior seems to be very cool. Because, if you close the cup holders, all the area wich would sorround the stick if there was on the "normal" position, is covered by wood or aluminium, so excellent.

Also the trim of the dashboard seems to start bigger at the centre, and goes thinner until it meets the door panels, where it cotinues, perfect.

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

The new E-Class has lots of body mass. Like most new car designs smaller wheels look like crap with all that going on.

If your going to get one you better up with some nice standard 18 inch wheels, even for winter.

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

With the new E is going to happen the same that with the C-Class. Looking too classy on the Elegance version, but the Avantgarde and specially the AMG one is simply the best looking of the segment.

And having seen the spy pics of the AMG version of this W212, I´m sure of what I am saying.

It makes absolutely no sense that they would mismatch because that test would prove nothing... you don't build a car that has mismatching parts like that unless that's an actual option that will go into production.

My guess is that the aluminium trim is going to be standard. Kind of like how the X5 and X6 have the aluminium strip on the doors no matter what trim you pick.

I personally like it a lot. It gives the interior a really nice contrast.

Btw, those rims look like they are 14" or something. If those are indeed 18" rims, which I have a feeling they are, you will need at least 20" to make it look good.

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

I don't think so: you can clearly see in the first pic that is is all-wood, no alu at all. It would have surprised me if the Elegance was to get alu, anyway.

They are testing two different settings in the second, with nothing behind the steering wheel, I don't know why. They must have their reasons though.:t-hands:

Re: New W212 E-Class Sedan & Estate Thread III (Spy pics & info)

If you noticed there is wood on the cap of the cupholders and the lower part of the AC unit in the first pic, while in the second not.

So there could be 2 wood options. Standard and extended one!
