M6 [Spyshots] BMW M6 F12/F13 (Spy pics, Info & Impressions)

The BMW M6 is a high-performance version of the 6 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand from 1983 to 2019 (with a hiatus from 1990 to 2004). Introduced in the coupe body style, the M6 was also built in convertible and fastback sedan ('Gran Coupe') body styles for later generations. An M6 model was built for each of the first three generations of the 6 Series. Production of the M6 ended in 2019 and it was replaced by the BMW M8 (F91/F92/F93) in 2019. Official website: BMW M
When I first saw the broken taillight I thought I was looking at white line tail lights like the 5er has :D

What will the M6 look like?

The answer is very easy. Just looks at the differences between 5 Series and M5, and you'll se what will be the differences between 6 Series and M6.
Usually an M car gets a special body-kit, one that is completely different from the rest of the line up. Take the example of the 3 Series Sedan E90:
- BMW 3 Series
- BMW 3 Series Performance
- BMW 3 Series M Package
- BMW M3

All these cars have completely different front bumpers, side skirts and rear bumpers. However really very different parts between the 3 Series Parformance and the 3 Series M Package are only the front bumper. The side skirt is has exactly the same desing, it only has a an added air inlet at the back. The rear bumber is also exactly the same, only the diffusor changes, it gets some tipe of fins.

When somebody puts an M car body kit on an non-M car, it is just a wrong thing to do, plus to being quite difficult, as the M3 for example has also different fenders, so that changing bumpers and side skurt is not enough.

However now, it seams M has taken the same direction. Now an M car would simply be an M-package bodykit with just another front bumper.

See for yourself:

The front bumper of course is different. But then, the side skurts and the rear bumber are the same. The only difference is the rear diffusor, which is a small unscrewable part of the rear bumper.
No we can go over to M6.

The side skirts and rear bumper will be the same. Only expect the diffusor in M5 style. Then add the M5 mirrors and an M letter on the side gills, just as the previous generation. The rims are the same. THe only thing left to know is the front bumper, well that is because it is the only DIFFERENT part of the bodykit.

All in all, it will not cost much to convert you 5/6 Series M Package into M5/M6 look, only change the front bumper, find a rear diffusor.

Unfortunately it seems, in the coming years, for an M car, you'll pay alot more, for very little more.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to put M pack bumpers on an M5, period. And M5 is wider than a regular 5er. Just like it has been on the E60 M5, you can't put an M pack on E60 M5 either, you will have major panel gaps and screw ups.

I believe I have read on 5eries.net that some owners put E60 M5 bumper on their regular E60.

No, front bumper not, as you will have to change also the front fenders. But the side skurts and rear bumper of the M5 F10, this time, are the same as those of the M-Package for standard 5 Series F10.

To sorta kinda get this back on topic,

What do those who have received their new cars think of the Dunlops BMW is mounting on the new 6? I expect most of these people to be new convertible owners/lessors and I am very eager to learn about this tire, which I know nothing about.

First pictures of the Carbon Ceramic brake clad uncovered front end of the new BMW M6 Coupe and you can see how nice it is all coming together. Both M6 Coupe and Cabrio are being filmed in the Los Angeles area before heading to other parts of the world. Like every other 6 - Coupe and Cabrio are being filmed for cost and continuity reasons.

Filming tonight.

Doing a simultaneous "release date" of both variants of the new model M6 would offer economies of cost and continuity as well...

But BMW does not do that unless it is the LCi. It is preferable that we whet your appetite with one model and then introduce another six months down the line.

Yes. But put it in Havanna or Silverstone II.
But like all 6er models I feel you have to have the LED option. It just fills out the face more. I don't know about anyone else but I feel these headlights make the inside of the headlight cover appear empty?

Having seen the two headlight options side by side, I completely agree the LED option is a no-brainer if you go for the 6er with M-Sports Package (and I imagine the same for the M6). If you want aggressive, the LED option is perfect...but if you want stylishly elegant, then the standard headlights work better to keep that frontal expression simple and sedated.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
