Supra [Spy Shots] Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra is a sports car and grand tourer manufactured and developed by the Toyota Motor Corporation beginning in 1978. The name "supra" is a definition from the Latin prefix, meaning "above", "to surpass" or "go beyond". The 5th generation of the Supra is assembled alongside the G29 BMW Z4 in Graz, Austria by Magna Steyr.
I didn't follow the spy reports that much so I don't know if the interior design has been seen before, but I agree that it is a bit too much BMW. I was thinking it will have a Japanese touch or something like a sharp focused cockpit towards the driver.

But at least the car has been revealed after all these tiring teasers that went on and on. Furthermore, Toyota will have two sportscar options in their showroom. If only the Nissan 370Z isn't almost 10 years old by now, it would be good for a rematch.

However, will this relief the pressure on Toyota from offering a turbocharged engine in the 86?

Very disappointing. If cost saving is a priority then why not use interior parts from other Toyotas or even Lexus models. Despite the stylish layout the lack of originality is sacrilege.

The F30 HVAC controls stick out like a sore thumb.

Interior turned out better than I had expected....then again, my expectations were low and the prior spy pics hadn't really allayed my concerns. Not a fan of the BMW HVAC but it wouldn't be a deal-breaker. I do wish there was more individual personality. I do like the digital gauge cluster. Regarding the exterior, besides my desire for proportions similar to the FT-1 concept, that rising line the doors that meet that then form the rear haunches looks clumsy from a dead-set profile view. From a front 3/4 view it looks alright. I think a touch more subtle line would have worked better there.

Funky lookin' - I'm warming to it. Perhaps a few too many shutlines around the door area but other than that it's an interesting enough design to stand out from the crowd.
Lots of BMW switchgear in the interior and so what - it's good, solid, ergo-friendly kit. Pity there's no manual but that's no longer a barrier to sales performance. Let's hope it's a solid competitor to the Cayman.
