Renault will unveil the new generation of the Clio on Monday, January 28. However, the company's brief video teaser is providing a tiny teaser of the hatchback now. The clip only shows the French brand's emblem and the model badge.

Oh, the time goes by so fast! I still remember the debut of the 3rd and 4th generation like it was yesterday.

It's a shame that the Clio is not what it used to be though. It's quite a mature car nowadays, a hundred times more grown-up than the first generation.

Over the last few weeks I was seriously looking for a good used Clio, a 3rd or 4th generation one, I test drove a few, and ended up buying a new engine for mine, which is one of the first '90 models that were sold in Greece.

The times have changed and cars are not as much fun as they used to be. I'm sure the new one will be a great package, but it will certainly not have the character of the first one!

PS. The single most fun FWD car I've ever driven is a '92 Clio RSi, closely (but at a safe distance) followed by a mk1 Focus ST. Nothing has ever felt fun since these two.

The exterior looks acceptable. It has neither the elegance of a Polo nor the blandness of a Kia Rio. It's just ok.

The interior, though, looks quite promising. I'm obviously not a fan of the totem (the huge and thick screen) but the rest seems a good improvement over the previous generation. I'm been in many mk4 Clios, from various model years, and all of them had borderline ganz crap fit and finish quality. Almost no attention to detail and most of the plastics were not secured good enough for a solid outcome. I hope this one's better.

Overall, not bad, but I am sure that it's not good enough. I think it works, though.

Not bad but meehh, that styling theme is getting old, specially the xxl headlights.
