Not sure if this is worth opening a new thread, but still, here are some news from the WCF:

2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe & Convertible to be larger & more dramatic - report

Will likely move upmarket

New details are starting to emerge about the 2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe and Convertible.

According to Car Magazine, the models will have an evolutionary design but adopt a more dramatic appearance thanks to shorter overhangs and a lower and wider stance. The cars are also slated to be larger than their predecessors which should help distance them from the C-Class Coupe and Convertible.

The models will also get a technical makeover as they are slated to receive everything from a heads up display to a semi-autonomous driving mode. We can also expect an advanced infotainment system with revised controls

Power will reportedly be provided by an assortment of engines including a new straight six with outputs ranging from 200-400 bhp (149- 298 kW). We can also expect four-cylinder petrol and diesel units as well as a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with as much as 600 bhp (447 kW) and 553 lb-ft (749 lb-ft) of torque.

If that's not enough options, there will reportedly be a hybrid and two plug-in hybrid variants. The mild hybrid will reportedly have a 40 bhp (30 kW) electric motor and electric-only range of 3 miles (4.8 km). The plug-in hybrids, on the other hand, will reportedly have an 80 bhp (59 kW) and 110 bhp (82 kW) electric motor and an electric-only range of up to 30 miles (48.2 km).

Nice, and probably expected. But, I would rather like to see new members in the CLS family (i.e. 2 door CLS and Convertible), than extension of the E Class family.

They're probably going to do both. A real E coupe (elegant and comfy) and a CLS coupe (more aggressive styling and more sporty handling). All based on the W213

And it's better to keep everything together in the next gen E class thread, imo

;) NEW E CLASS COUPE 2017

The current E-class coupe came out in 2009 almost same time as the saloon so this new version should be out in 2016 I would guess.

That AMS render does look really good abit like smaller S-Class coupe mixed with the E-class overtones. I think it will be longer than the current version. Maybe length up to approx 4.85m to bridge the gap between the upcoming 4.68m C-class coupe and the 5.03m S-class coupe

Why do they want that bulbous nose like the 3-series has?

Also, the biggest thing that confuses me is how small the S-coupe is. The back seat is the worst of any generation of S-coupe. I mean there is literally no more leg room than in a C-coupe.

So, how do you really build a C-coupe and E coupe with a functional back seat.

I'm over 6ft and I fit just fine in the S-Class coupe's back seat. I sat behind my friend who test drove it with the salesman in the front passenger seat. How much room do you need or expect in a coupe? You should see the backseat of the 6-Series coupe.

;) NEW E CLASS COUPE 2017

Here's a larger render. :)

The new E Coupé will no longer be based on the C, but will instead be entirely based on the E-Class informs Autobild. Thus the chassis modules of the sedan will be available for the coupe. The design will be much sportier than the sedan, without a B-pillar. The six cylinder diesel is to produce over 300 hp, while the gasoline engines propel the AMG version with just under 600 hp (4.0-liter V8 biturbo).

There's too much Bentley in that last chop. It's not graceful enough for a Mercedes coupe.

Looking forward to this car, the old 300ce was always on my list of great cars. This really harkens back to that for me.
Marley71, what a beauty that C124 was indeed. I knew a few S-Klasse W126 drivers who bought this one as a replacement for their S-Klasse. At that time the C124 was much "higher placed in the Benz hierarchy than the current E-Coupé.

The current e coupe is essentially a c coupe
