X5 (G65) [Spy Shots] Next Gen BMW X5 (G65) and iX5 - coming in 2027?

The BMW G65 is projected to be the fifth generation of the BMW X5 range. It will replace the X5 (G05). Expected to debut in Summer 2026. Production: 2027- (estimated)
And the winglet clutters the bodywork sheetmetal more than a door handle does ?

No...as it appears to be mounted over the lower sideglass trim strips rather than directly in the doors sheetmetal. I like those on the new Volvo ES60 as well.

Not to say that there aren't some good looking doorhandles implanted in the door sheetmetal. The BMW solution seen on the G26 i4, the G60/61 5er and the G70 7er. Or the newer Audis such as the C9 or B10 models. The Polestar 5. Regardless of whether a mechanical release is present or not. The grab-handle semi-ellipsoid conventional type, as functional as they undeniably are, can look a bit stale IMHO. Of course, I'm just rambling on about aesthetics only.

Lighter than the EV RR SUV.

The RR is on an Aluminium spaceframe though, the BMW on CLAR.

Incomparable cars btw. it's going to be in the Cayenne ballpark I guess, close to 2700 kg (Turbo S is 26xx kg)

IMHO, the new Cayenne EV, standard and especially the coupe, and the upcoming ix5 both seem to knock it out of the park in terms of exterior design. Interior ? I think that I may prefer that of the ix5. Something until very recently absolutely inconceivable for me...NOT favoring a Porsche interior.

100-200kg of thick rubbery foam insulation adds weight.

Would the purpose of such a large battery be to set a record of 1.500 km of range and another of weight?

Haha, true, true. Luxury adds weight
That's the main difference between an RR and a BMW. Bmw skimp on sound insulation on entry level cars. In the 5-7 series and above they put sound deadening sheets in select places.

However RR not only use sound deadening sheets but thick heavy foam in lots of places including footwells, doors, wheel arches, boot and headliner. Basically the decibel reading should be the same no matter where you put your head in the car.

If you were to do a proper aftermarket audio upgrade in a car, at least half the cost will be sound deadening installation yo reduce rattles and booming.

The 992 has such bad tyre roar that some owners are spending €4000-5000 to add sound deadening.

A full fat range rover targets 60-65db whilst an RR can be as quiet as 52db. Huge difference all thanks to more than a 100kg in sound deadening.

Back in the day prototypes of the Ghost was so quiet inside that it made test drivers sick. The engineers had to remove some of the noise isolating material and create seats that vibrated at specific frequencies to introduce some noise into the interior so it wasn’t as nauseating.

Yeah the human brain somehow seems to need some kind of background rumble at all times.

BMW not playing around with their EVs putting in the same effort as their ICE vehicles. Thats a massive battery.

I've seen a demo with a thin 3M sound deadening tape, it seemed really surprisingly effective at deadening sound transmission, but it was literally made from Lead, not the best thing for keeping weight down.

You can buy skinz sheets to better insulate a car. This is what's done when you do an audio upgrade.

However if you want ambient noise to be below 60db thats not enough. Here is an RR dawn.

Latest M5. No sound deadening in door.

F30 Alpina "tin can" no sound deadening.
