X5 [Spy Shots] Next Gen BMW X5 (G65) and iX5 - coming in 2027?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
I’m mostly interested in the implementation of the alleged passenger screen. What Mercedes did with the screen layout is the better way of doing it as it’s just a one continuous piece so it looks organic. On the other hand, Audi’s way of doing was tacky and looks like an afterthought. Neue Klasse interiors don’t have that opportunity since there’s one big screen in the middle. Adding a separate screen on the passenger side would look out of place unless they find a way to integrate it nicely to the overall layout. I still think they don’t need to add one as they’re useless and basically a screen overkill.

Agree. The Audi main screen curves to the driver whilst the other appears stuck on. Best examples I can think of are the older Eq Mercedes-Benz’s. The new ones are like a giant sideboard which hid your TV. Any Porsche and the Ferrari Purosangue. BMW will have to integrate it to flow with the Panoramic display and not obscure it.

Panoramic iDrive is the passenger screen.

Mercedes' implementation is f#cking horrific.
I wouldn’t say horrific tbh. At least it looks continuous and well integrated. There aren’t many ways of implementing the 3rd screen onto the dashboard without making it look horrible, or like an afterthought. Still, no need for a passenger screen!

It will probably be something similar to the Lexus SUV Concept we saw a couple of years ago. This is, the central screen extender to the passenger side.

A baaaad idea.

These are the examples of good integration of a passenger screen, imho.

While these look tacky and out of place. The CLA looks somewhat decent compared to the other ones, but the execution was really bad. Looks like a surfboard on your dashboard. Previous EQ models looked much premium and well-integrated

Thanks, that was the Lexus concept interior I was referring to. Not sure why would I want to look at that silly screen instead of my iPad/laptop.

It’s not a concept actually, it’s the new Lexus ES’ interior. That big screen is exclusive to Chinese market.

Btw, looking at the rear lights, I am starting to believe the render by BMWBlog is quite spot on. Compared to the iX3 rear end, this could turn out significantly more polarizing.
X shaped headlights will also create further individuality from the iX3.

With the new Porsche Cayenne looking a bit more generic at the rear end, I'm starting to think that G65 (i)X5 may well be its' biggest competitor to date.

I'm also very curious about what the passenger screen will be like. Either they'll make the central screen larger and extend it to the passenger, or the Panoramic iDrive will have extra features for the passenger. I think putting another large screen in front of the passenger would seriously compromise the design integrity. The most logical solution is the Panoramic iDrive.

Something we have yet to see.
Perhaps X-shaped headlights and taillights were used in draft X5 designs before the NK design language was adopted, but I don't expect the NK design to feature X-shaped headlights. At least, if that were the case, BMW would have released a few hints by now.

There's no sign of the X symbol in these spy photos. Perhaps it was abandoned after the NK design. However, we won't know for sure until the launch.
