X5 [Spy Shots] Next Gen BMW X5 (G65) and iX5 - coming in 2027?

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.

Is that the iX5 or X5? From what I’ve read in some other topic here, this gen X5 was adopting “X” signature DRLs, while this seems more in line with the NK style.

Looks nice though

It shows the plug-in hybrid. The article says, that the X5 as well as the iX5 will adopt the design language of the NK Vision X. They won't differ like the X3 and the iX3.

Derived from the Neue-Klasse design philosophy .A taller thinner grille surrounded by a wide facia. X shaped “Space Invader” headlights. Kicked up
Glasshouse and wide rear lights strip split with BMW badge.

X shaped lights must refer to the DRLs, cause clearly the shape of the front goes in line with the one of the iX3.

Yeah, the DRLs will likely be powered by Hella's latest and greatest tech, meaning every possible shape imaginable will be available for mass production.

Some better shots of the front betray its Vision X Neue-Klasse kin-ship.

As does the rear. For the first time the licence plate will be lowered. Rear lights again will be higher placed. The dimple indicates the metal on the tailgate will have a recessed BMW badge.

Curious about the lower flanks. Could we see the idea of X-Surfacing return? It was experimented with earlier in the past decade. Both door panels on the prototype have an upwards tick.

The original idea which formed an X on the side of the vehicle. Started from the rear door but escalated upwards, carried through the character line and around the rear glasshouse. Whilst the lower swoop at the front wing travelled up and formed that X5 wheel arch. It was too ambitious at the time.

Hopefully it will keep the Hofmeister kink, and that they don’t mess up as with the X3 -this is not a H kink

The BMW X3 model line never had a "proper" Hofmeister kink to begin with. The last X5 with a traditional kink was the F15. Even G05 has a loose interpretation of the traditional kink.

The new X3's D-pillar treatment is purely an extension of the theme established with G01. So I doubt we'll be seeing BMW revert to the - let's call it classic - Hofmeister kink on this new model.

Looks a bit Van-ish in those shots because of that exactly. Don't know if I like that. No wait I do know; I don't like that.
I'm not getting van vibes just yet. Perhaps pitching closer to a crossover lines than before - I actually get Velar vibes from the side profile - but not an MPV as yet.

Kind of seeing Volvo XC vibes. But the panels are probably making it look that way.
