Maybach 57/62 (W240/V240) [Spy Shots] Maybach Facelift: Spy Photos & Info

The Maybach 57 (W240) and 62 (V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). The concept car and production models were based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class. Both models had an "S" (Spezial) option, and additional Landaulet version for the 62 S. Production: April 2002 – February 2013, 3,321 produced.

Well the issue really isn't the fact that they're giving Maybach a facelift. All companies usually do that including Rolls. The issue is that it's a late facelift.

I agree HoH and if anything, the Maybach shouldn't have gotten a facelift in the first place (like the SLR). The S models were enough to refresh it. And not only that, but it's been eight years since they introduced it. They should've been presenting a replacement by now, not a facelift.

I also don't think they should give up, but they should let it have its own identity. Use the old MM's as a blueprint and start from there.

Anyway, we pretty much know what the facelift will look like:

Imagine how Piech was pissed. And he still have no sympathies for BMW Group.
Really ? I have always heard that he hired Pischtreider because he admired his move. :D

Maybach: 6 (-33.3%; Nov 08: 9) ... YTD 57 (-49.6%; YTD 08: 113)

WOW...I just noticed this. Maybach is the most exclusive car in the U.S.

Reality: They're exclusive because no one wants or buys them. Just 6 delieveries last month! WOW.

Maybach production numbers share some similarities to the W100 600. Very exclusive.

"Production began in 1964 and most 600 variants were built until 1972. The oil crisis, as well as the introduction of new S-Class models, slowed demand. Modest production continued until 1981. During this time, 2,677 vehicles were made."

Please for ***** sake, give us a brand new design. None of that badge engineering crap like the current car. If BMW can do it with the 7er and Rolls...then you can do it too MB.

:eusa_doh: Oh looks like my thread got merged with another one again. I think I'm going to stop posting new threads.

Well, I merged the threads because they are both about the same topic: Maybach 57/62 facelift. It's easier to find what you're looking for when the forum is not all fragmented. :t-cheers:

AUTOWEEK reports:

Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche says no plans to develop Maybach brand beyond today's two-model lineup.

Now that could mean several things. A facelift is coming, thats pretty much a given at this point. I read this comment as they won't offer anything else like a Coupe/Convertible etc, but they'll stick with the 2 sedans and their various versions. IMO.

Hello!

This old subject again. I have not given it much thought in months.

Why are they even bothering with a facelift?

It appears to me that Daimler has already lost serious interest in Maybach -- they've even started using switches from the S class parts bin -- obviously in an effort to cut some costs.

Haven't seen you in a while :t-cheers:

I thought I'd make a quiet comeback ;)

Having said that, things feel quite different for me here now.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
