Well, a slightly spiced-up W220 dash is hardly worth the price tag is it? And compared to an F10 or W221, it's quite old-school with no nice 21st century electronic gadgetry.

I really don't see what a facelift is going to do. They sell anywhere from 5-10 a month here in the U.S. making it in my guesstimation one of the top 3 exclusive cars in the U.S.

Absolutely nothing! Why would anyone worth 10 million plus run to their Mercedes-Benz dealer to purchase a $400k car because it now has LED fog lights. Yes, their are some dumb millionaires, but come on. It would make more sense to get a all-new Bentley Mulsanne for about $110k less.

I would really love to see Mercedes bring Maybach to the level it needs to be technology and recognition wise. It just seems like they aren't trying. I guess they feel it's not worth the investment.

^^They are going to use the S to fill in the Maybach's void? It's like one dumb decision after another. While I love the S-class and it's the best Big-sedan in my opinion, there is no way it's going to compete with Rolls thanks to the name alone.

Not really. The S-class holds a lot of weight in the automotive industry. Not to mention the Mercedes-Benz name holds more weight and recognition then the Maybach name.

I think an S700/S800/S900 wouldn't be bad at all (if done right). If people are willing to pay $200k for an S65 AMG, they might just willing to pay $300k for a more luxurious and powerful model.

Yes I see absolutely not reason why the S-class couldn't be made into a range of vehicles to rival Bentley and Rolls. Kind of like a brand within a brand. Mercedes has far more recognition than Maybach and up untill the early part of the 00's the S-class made a mockery out of the Bentley and Rolls in terms of technology. So the history is there. Could be very interesting!

I don't they'll do a S700 or anything like that. What they will do is use the W222 platform for a 4-door Coupe and maybe even a 4-door Cabrio like the Ocean Drive.

They are taking away the v12 from next gen S class and so freeing the 600 name.. So maybe they will make a new super MB named the Mercedes 600

If they do, that would be a huge mistake. Why let Bentley, and more importantly, BMW to trump Mercedes in the engine stakes? A V12 is a must in the top echelon of the luxury car market.

I think we will see a new V12 engine for Mercedes soon even if the economics of the V12 engine has changed quite significantly since talks with Aston Martin have come to nothing and the Maybach name being consigned to history, again.

The Auto China 2010, also called the 2010 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition,
will be held from April 23 to May 2 at the China International Exhibition Center (CIEC)
in Tianzhu, Shunyi District in Beijing.

There are nine exhibition halls: E1, E2, E3, E4, E5, W1, W2, W3 and W4.

Expect an official release of pictures sometime monday or tuesday, probabbly. Lately, MB's releases have happened 3-4 days before the start of the auto show.

The official details and photos of the Maybach 57/62 Facelift, as well as the press pack for the Auto China 2010, could be released around the end of the next week.

There will be a launch event for FL Maybach and some of the MB show cars at the eve of Auto China which kicks off on friday,so I believe we can expect the press kit early than thursday.

Tomorrow or tuesday is my guess. If there is going to be some sort of unveiling on the eve of the event, thursday, I'd expect to see the Maybach FL, E-Class LWB, and CLS shooting brake concept unveiled in the next two days or so.
