What a pity! (n)The Cruze had it's own defined design, this is as generic as it gets. Look at the trapezoid grill, featured in all the Audi wannabes: Hyundai, some Citröen, new Subaru Legacy/Liberty.
Same with the stoplights... is it an Accord? Hyundai? Mazda 3 sedan? Nissan? Toyota? Ford Fusion/Focus sedan?

At least the interior seems like a seismic improvement over the outgoing model.....

Not bad, but it is such a generic mix of every single car brand out there. Perhaps that is GM's new tactic, confuse the hell out of the general public so they will get tricked into buying it.

I'm sure GM's European customers are confused, given that it's only a few years since they relaunched Chevrolet here they're now withdrawing the brand altogether...

Yep! The brand is leaving Sweden. A relative has one of these and wanted to get a new one.

Everything is going generic these days, and still people question me when I don't like most modern cars... :D

Anyway, I think I read at autoblog.com that this actually is a shortened version of the Cruze intended to be sold in China. The Cruze for the EU and US market is supposed to be different.

:)

A shrinked Impala. Imho, the current car looks a whole lot better & exciting than the plain design yet emotionless profile of the new car! (n)

2015 / 2016 Chevrolet Cruze interior revealed

Likely previews the American variant
Chevrolet has quietly released the first interior pictures of the 2015 / 2016 Cruze which was recently unveiled at Auto China.

Looking significantly more upscale than its predecessor, the redesigned model boasts a familiar dual cockpit layout but comes nicely equipped with high quality materials and better attention to detail. The model pictured is obviously a high-end variant but we can see saddle brown leather upholstery, chrome accents and piano black trim. There's also a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, ice blue ambient lighting and a MyLink II infotainment system with an eight-inch display. Last but not least, there's a "butterfly-shaped center console" that promises to provide "intuitive, user-friendly operation with clear functions at a glance."

As we have previously reported, the Chinese-spec Cruze will be offered with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter unit. They can be connected to a six-speed manual, a six-speed automated manual and an all-new seven-speed DCG dual-clutch gearbox.

Due to the prominence and name recognition of Chevrolet as one of General Motors' global marques, "Chevrolet" or its affectionate nickname 'Chevy' or is used at times as a synonym for General Motors or its products, one example being the GM LS1 engine, commonly known by the name or a variant thereof of its progenitor, the Chevrolet small-block engine.
