X3/X4 [Spy Shots] BMW iX3 2025 (NA5)

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.
Terrible interior and it's a shame that the iDrive controller is gone. I can't understand why they use haptic feedback buttons on the steering wheel either. RIP BMW.

Hmm. That interior design is challenging. I've never liked when gauges are tucked into the cowl like that.

I continue to maintain that Porsche is doing the best interiors of all German manufacturers on their EVs. Those of the Taycan and Macan-e are very impressive. And I suspect that Porsche will take it up a notch with the upcoming Cayenne EV and Boxster/Cayman EVs.

I don’t necessarily agree as the use of certain materials is substandard in those as well the 911. Just feel the doorbins and center console in the Macan-E. Only by adding tons of money you have premium leather on those parts but not really much better by default.
As for the iX3, the interior has a certain newness that interests me as we haven’t seen this from BMW yet but I’ll leave my final judgement until full reveal. I still have an iDrive controller in my car but use it less and less as touchscreen and voice control do a very decent job.

The interior design of the Neue Klasse BMWs seems very quirky to me similar to Citroens that just want to appear different but dont offer much advantages in ergonomics or functionality. The shape of the angled screen makes vertical viewing of sat nav and Youtube videos a problem. The placement of the small instrument panel with information strip across the base of the screen an eyesight challenge for short sighted people. Then the new steering wheel with vertical spokes in both the upward and lower part of the steering wheel makes turning of the wheel a problem and blocks the view of the instrument panel unless you look over the top of the steering wheel (ala Peugeot 208).

I just think the Germans are trying too hard. This, as you said, seems quirky for the hell if it. Mercedes is off implementing vertical dashboards, and Audi is doing…well I don’t know what you call that.

They all lack elegance, at least from what I’ve seen thus far.

Excellent preview of iX3 looks like its going to be a game changer. Base suspension on the first drive shows how much confidence they have in this platform. Well done BMW once again.
