If there is anything genuinely valid in this video, it is the suggestion that "vertical mass" should be diminished on the "lower 2/3" flankmetal under the DLO. It really does make a world of difference. Here's to hoping that evolving battery tech will present very thin architectures allowing for far less "chunky, fat" side profiles. That digitally "trimmed" G60 sedan that the youtuber presents looks far more elegant, far more athletic than the actual car.

The front end changes look promising, but the rear of the car is still its major weakness. The angle of the bootlid spoils the rear of the car and the vertical slits in the bumper also a design tragedy. Lets hope the next 5 (after this LCI) will have a more pronounced 3 box design at the rear.

Hopefully, the ninth generation will be split into two bespoke platforms: one for a traditional combustion 5er/M5 (for instance, the G50 3er/G84 M3) and another for an all electric i5/M5 (NA0 i3/ZA0 M3). So, the proportion and silhouette of the next 5er would not be awkward like the current series.

Per Bimmerpost, G60 lifespan was extended to end of 2031 so we are stuck with this body style for a while.

Though.. that could be subject to being shortened as well. G20 was initially pushed to 2027 before being brought back to 2026 EOP.
