5 Series (G60/G61/G68) [Spy Shots] BMW G60 5 Series LCI

The BMW G60/G61/G68 is the eighth generation of the 5 Series. Revealed on May 24, 2023, it commenced production in the summer of 2023 at BMW's Dingolfing Plant, with first deliveries beginning around October 2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G60), 5-door wagon/estate (G61), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G68).
It is safe to assume that if the G6x LCI will feature NK design, then the next generation 5 Series (expected to bow out after 2029) will embrace an all-new design philosophy penned by the new design team led by ex-Polestar Maximilian Missoni.

I don’t think we’ll see light strip. Rear lights clearly ends here. Sadly.

I would say the design that comes after the NK will be an evolution and will be started by the next 7er.

This car already looks like a massive improvement over the current 5er.

hahahahhaha

Nitrous Oxide inhalation addiction is a terrible affliction, I hope with god's grace, and a little luck, you can over come it, and have something worthwhile to say in a BMW thread, and the Nitrous can be kept for where it's needed... Mitsubishi Eclipses.

Already?! Damn... Is the G60 5er a sales flop compared to the G30?
Not necessarily, but when 50% of the lineup will have a radically different design language (upcoming i3, 3er, iX3, X5) all coming very soon, the 5er will be visually outdated.

In my book it's a win-win.. goodbye Kia front end and hello refreshingly new and muscular front end.

I imagine the newly launched X3 will have a radical facelift to align with the iX3 in 3 years.

X6 and X7 will also have NK design. Assuming the 1er and 2er will leave the line up (at least in the way they look today), that would only leave the 5er, X1, X2 and X3 with the old design language.

It is not. The NK theme is not just a one generation thing.

The NK is not very visually offerting, even though it may look fresh at first. It will create some visible overlapping between different model series. Even though today’s philosophy might seem tiring and busy, it sure does very good at properly differentiating the models. This will not be the case with NK, which looks set to be only an intermezzo.

I actually believe that what we have seen from the Ingenlath/Missoni era at (Volvo) Polestar displays some similarities with what BMW will be presenting with the NKL EV sedans. Precise, timeless minimalism devoid of sculptural gimmickry. Maximillian Missoni is, in my opinion, an optimal fit at BMW. Perhaps a far better one than Philipp Römers (formerly Audi) at Polestar. Not to prematurely belittle Mr. Römers, mind you. I suspect that Mr. Römers was not afforded the liberties at VAG that Mr. Missoni was afforded at Volvo-Polestar.

BMW's have always looked highly similar. The differentiation definitely is something of the last 15-20 or so years.
And I am fine with them looking same-ish again, if the language is strong and recognizable.
We really are jumping the gun here either way, there's no saying how the theme will evolve over time and between models.

This is pure speculation, based on nothing. It could easily be the design direction for the coming decade and beyond.
