7 Series [Spy shots] BMW 7er (G11) Spy Pics & Info

The BMW 7 Series is a full-size luxury sedan manufactured and marketed by the German automaker BMW since 1977. It is the successor to the BMW E3 "New Six" sedan. The 7 Series is BMW's flagship car and is only available in a sedan bodystyle (including long wheelbase and limousine models). It traditionally introduces technologies and exterior design themes before other models in BMW's lineup.

The internal code of the car will be G11 according to Autobild. Could any mod change the tittle to include it, please?
Thank you, as I was about to ask that. Been looking for a while since "F" is running out of numbers under 100.

""According to BMW insiders" the engine range will be based on only one all making 0.5l/cylinder, giving us 1.5l I3, 2.0l I4, 3.0l I6 and 4.0l V8. The next V12 is to be all new. If the next 760i will be lighter will it need more power ? Not really. In this case why not build a smaller displacement V12 ? And what is about the 1.6l I4 shared with PSA ? Also, the right engine for the M7 would be a V10, based on the 4.4l V8 with two cylinder "added". To expensive to build ? Not enough "green" for the M1 successor ?

Thanks, man. :) Finally catching some free time to post from time to time. Business is killing me and it's the only reason for my absence...;)

Next BMW 7-Series To Feature An M Model, Just Don't Call It An M7

Mercedes-Benz has been selling AMG versions of its S Class quite successfully for the past several years, and soon Audi will launch a new generation of its potent S8, but BMW doesn’t have a similar performance-themed full-size sedan in its portfolio, and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

Of course, if you’re interested in owning a full-size BMW that can go from 0-60 mph in under 5.0 seconds and well past the automaker’s self-imposed 155-mph speed limit, there is always the V-12 powered 760i or Alpina B7 to choose from.

However, what plenty of well-heeled fans, as well as a good number of dealers, are clamoring for is a 7-Series developed by BMW’s storied M Division.

The good news is that a high-performance 7-Series is coming, most likely with the next-generation. That was made clear by BMW’s U.S. chief Ludwig Willisch at a recent press event. However, what’s uncertain is whether this new model will be a dedicated M model, a possible M7 perhaps, or simply one of the BMW go-fast division’s new M Performance offerings.

A new report from Automobile Magazine has now shed some light on the matter. Reportedly, the 7-Series developed by the M Division will be called the M770i xDrive, meaning it will be an M Performance model rather than a dedicated M car. This is due to the M Division’s belief that a luxury-oriented car like the 7-Series could never be a true M car, though it’s hard to justify such a claim when we have vehicles like the X5 M and X6 M performance SUVs.

As for the M770i xDrive model, it will be based on the next-generation 7-Series due in the next three to four years. It will forgo a V-12 engine in favor of a lighter and more fuel-efficient V-8, which thanks to a pair of turbochargers should develop around 475 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque.

This may be well down on the 570 horsepower of the current 760i, but according to the report the new M770i xDrive will be much lighter thanks to plenty of carbon fiber in its construction. The lightweight stuff will reportedly be used for the hood, roof and trunk, as well as for the brakes, exhaust system and wheels. Most of the internal structure will also rely on lightweight aluminum. The end result could be a weight saving of around 450 pounds over the current model.

BTW guys, didn't we see the first F01 spy pics in September 2005? That's a bit less than 3 years prior to the official reveal. If they repeat the schedule eith the G11 we might see the first spy pics this fall.

SCOTT, you know anything about this?

Before the 5 Series F10/F11, first the Z4 E89, then the 5 Series F08 and then the X3 F25 should get facelift.

I believe we can expect BMW to use the headlight design of the new 3 (on the 7er) with the headlights attached to the grill in abstract form. This is a new trend we can expect on the next 7er and 5er. The render is pretty cool btw...

Dear BMW,

Don't F*** up the 7er this time by making it soooo boring to make room for a CS variant and then F*** up your plans & eventually the 7er. Stick to your plan.

Regards.

Instead, make it nice and aggressive and then make a CS than it is even more sporty and aggressive.

We actually saw the first engineering mules in April 2006, then in September 2006 non-FEP prototypes. I'm guessing that they send out mules publicly a little while after the design has been frozen and after 6-7 months, prototypes. I'm not sure, but the F30 was first seen in November 2009 as a prototype and in January 2009 as an E90 mule. The G11 isn't finished design-wise, so we shouldn't be seeing any mules or prototypes yet. For example, the earliest dated sketches of the F01 by Karim Habib are from March 2006. A source in late November 2008 said that the design for F01 was "nearly" 3 years old at the time, so one should just add 7 years to that. Here's what I think from past patterns. E65 design selected: early 1999(mule testing: Spring 1999, prototype testing: fall 1999); F01: early 2006(mule: April '06, prototype: Sept. '06); G11=design selection late 2012/early 2013?

According to rumors that have been flying across the web, BMW plans to offer a M performance version of their luxury 7-Series sedan, but according to Automobilemag, this won’t happen until the next generation 7-Series arrives in 2015. That being said, rumors are also stating that the new model will not wear the M7 nomenclature. Instead, BMW will adopt a more conventional M770i xDrive name and will mainly aim it at US customers.
The upcoming M770i xDrive will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 that will deliver a total of 475 HP and 480 lb-ft of torque. This strikes us as an odd decision considering the 760Li is powered by a 570 HP V12 engine. However, BMW has promised that the next M770i will be more agile than the 760i.
The future sedan will also feature extensive use of carbon fiber, including the roof, trunk, and hood, but the suspension components, firewalls, and doors will all be made from aluminum. These elements combined with lightweight sports seats and carbon fiber ceramic brakes will make the M770i about 450 lbs lighter than the current top version 7-Series.
Expect to see the new BMW M770i xDrive’s launch a few months after the next 7-Series arrives on the market.

Article is full of BS. M770i and and a V8 making only 480 PS ? I think they missed the part where it says the V8 is a quad-turbo making 680 PS.
