3 Series (G50) [Spy shots] 2027 BMW 3 Series (G50)

The eighth generation of the BMW 3 Series range consists of the BMW G50 (sedan version) and BMW G51 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') compact executive cars. It is to be unveiled and launched in 2026, with the next-generation M3 set to launch the year after. It will feature a new, minimalist design inspired by BMW's Vision Neue Klasse concept, and will be offered with both internal combustion and purely electric powertrains, though on different platforms.

Drop dead handsome.

I find that render very conservative and way off in its main aspects; there's not much NK in it except on the front. I estimate it will be much more in line with the new philosophy.

It's still well camouflaged with an overlapping piece.

The Hoffmeister Kink is pretty much always the last thing they show since it's so important.

But honestly, I am just surprised people here too fail to see it's just camo. The same happened yesterday in the G60 FL thread where a piece of different camo was completely misjudged for something else.

Well, the 8GC has a kink just like this one. Wouldn’t be so surprised if the same happens here.

Sure, but that's besides the fact that it's still under cover. For a reason.

But honestly I don't expect it to be much different from the current 3er (or indeed the G60 5er) where the actual Kink is part of the body and separate from the door.

You can clearly see an additional panel at that portion. Covering it and having whats underneath be the exact same shape would just be braindead activities, they wouldn’t do that.

Anybody have insight on what we can expect with the pattern on the grill? Vertical slats, black solid gloss flush with lights? Any information?

The pattern will likely be something very similar to what the iX3 has with those lines.
I think they will use something like the concept, twin wide kidney grille with a panel on each to simulate the bars. Why? Vision X has a facia close to the iX3 in production form.

Literally two completely different cars

Personally, front to the A pillar G50 for me. And A pillar to rear bumper i3. I prefer the boxy design of the i3 in the end I think, but it's damn difficult and my mood seems to swing between the two.

Mines has always stuck with the G50 since the early set of spy shots back in November 2024, which is exactly one year ago. This is due to its traditional, yet alluring three-box silhouette in comparison to the cab forward profile of the NA0.

I’ve heard a lot about NA0 having FWD proportions or being cab-forward but I don’t see it. Certainly, it’s not cab-backward like G50 but there’s also no way you’ll see the front wheels that far forward on a FWD car with that prestige gap. If anything, it’s all quite in-the-middle. So, cab-central then which, I suppose, is what you ought to get with an EV.

That said, I’m still more partial to the old school proportions of the G50.
