2016 Ford Galaxy spied in the United States
Can't come soon enough

The 2015 / 2016 Ford Galaxy has been spied undergoing testing in the United States.

Looking larger and more stylish than its predecessor, the model adopts a trapezoidal grille which is flanked by large sweptback headlights. The camouflage hides a lot of other details but we can see a more rakish windscreen and familiar front side windows. Moving further back, there's an upward sweeping beltline, a sloping roofline and a relatively upright tailgate.

The model is expected to be based on Ford's C/D platform so engine options will likely be shared with the new Mondeo. This means choices could include a 1.5- and 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine as well as a 2.0-liter TDCi diesel.

A prototype of the fourth generation Ford Galaxyhas been spied undergoing testing ahead of next year's probable reveal as a 2016MY.

Looking larger than the model it will replace, the all-new Galaxy spotted here was still covered in a significant amount of camouflage but we expect the styling to be heavily influenced by the Focus facelift and the latest Mondeo. There's also a rakish windscreen combined with a gentle sloping roofline while the large side windows should provide excellent visibility.

It will come with the now familiar trapezoidal front grille and we can also see a pair of sweptback headlights and large taillights looking similar to those on the Fusion/Mondeo. It's the same story with the interior cabin which doesn't really bring anything new as the angular design from other models has been largely carried over.

Riding on the firm's CD4 platform, the 2016 Ford Galaxy will probably get just about the same engines as the new Mondeo so there will be 1.5- and 2.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline engines and a 2.0-liter TDCi diesel.

An official launch is expected sometime next year, with the model likely going on sale late 2015 as a 2016MY. At the moment it's not known whether Ford will commercialize the new Galaxy in United States.
