The old S6 was undoubtedly the worst case of wasted potential since... since ever?
The combination of an A6 with the Gallardo's V10 engine was supposed to be a match made in heaven. But, unfortunately, the car that actually emerged was a Mr. Nearly car stuck in a no man's land, between the 550i-E500 rock and the E63-M5 hard place.![]()
I was expecting they learned their lesson, given the bitterly cold reaction the old S6 had received, but, looks like they haven't. The new S6 is bringing a 440 bhp knife to a 500-580 Bhp gun fight.
Great. Once again the S6 will be a Mr. Nearly car stuck in a no man's land between the 550i-E500 rock and E63-M5 hard place. Way to go Audi.![]()
To me, it seems Audi's current tactic is to offer a tad bit more vs. the competition....
The A6 3.0T competes with the E350 and 535i
The S6 goes against the E550 and 550i
The RS6 goes agains the the M5 and the E63 AMG.
I do agree the previous gen S6 didn't make sense epecially with its V10 engine. It was like in a super sports sedan limbo. The RS6 had the numbers but it lacked feeling. I'm hoping with the adoption of this new platform, the dynamics will be more sorted.
The more I see pics of the new A6, the more I like it.
