^^ LOL, it never stops does it?
Now we have to wait for the insane Turbo and GT3 (RS)....drooooolllll

Does anyone else think that there may be a hard top under that black tarp? That thing is so tightly pulled that it just doesn't look like a soft top. You can even see some creases under it as if there is a hardtop?

There has to be a hardtop below. It's far too sleek to be a soft top. I would say hardtop without much doubt.

/\

I mean, I am apprehensive to actually say there is a hardtop there. Maybe Porsche worked on something that makes the soft top cloth be flatter, but there was a picture on here somewhere showing that there was some sort of hardtop being retracted into a testing car.

2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabrio tears up the Nürburgring

Could offer 550 PS

Our spies have snapped the first pictures of the 2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Wearing minimal camouflage, the prototype appears virtually production ready. The overall design stays pretty faithful to the current model, but there's a revised front fascia, larger air intakes and a new four-tailpipe exhaust system.

Engine details remain elusive, but rumors suggest the car will have a turbocharged flat-six with approximately 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp). It will be connected to a seven-speed manual or an optional PDK transmission, which should ensure this is one of the world's fastest convertibles.

I am so loving this car most remarkably it is 45kg lighter than the 997. It is a shame that the Turbo will grow a rear with quad exhausts identical to the ones on the Cayenne and Panny, in favour of the dual exhausts seen on the 997 which are the same as the ones on the 997 Carrera.

Dutch Autoweek says it's 45 kg lighter than the 997. And 5.6 cm longer, 6.5 cm wider and 1.1 cm lower!

6.5 cm wider is huge. Will make a big impact visually.

Did Dutch Autoweek say it is 6.5cm wider than 997 models for both narrowbody and widebody (like the C4S)? That will make the C4S over 1.9m wide and the "big impact" is going to be with the side of my garage! Oh well, looks like I may have to rebuild my garage:D

Weren't all mrk II models wide body standard compared to the mrk I?
Anyways, they didn't specify. I was wondering the same thing. They present numbers but they don't put them into context properly.

Btw, why haven't we seen pics of full LED headlights yet? Surely I expected them on the new 911. They have their priorities elsewhere it seems. Guess we should be thankful for that! All the effort goes into making a better car.

I´ve seen the Cayenne with them and they look nothing but fantastic. They are quite simple, a bright point forming an invisible square. 99% the same as the 918 Concept.

The new car is quite attractive and I am sure must be the best "mass" produced sports car in the world but the exterior design is disappointing in the sense that it is merely a medium-level evolution. The front end is too similar to the outgoing car and the rear although sharper is more plasticky also. The 993 is still the best 911 to date and Porsche seems to be unable to top that design. Hats off to the 993 designers.

Will they really manage to fold a metal roof into that tight space between the rear bulkhead and the engine bay?

Price of a base 911 anyone ?

90.000 €.

Does anyone knows when the Turbo is debuting? If the new Turbo features 550 PS the Turbo S should be featuring 630 PS. This amount of power in the best plattform of the market, should be mostly everything.

400PS N/A is more appealing to me then anything else :)
90000euro is 10k over my budget but If it does a good lap at the Nring that might very well be my second drive :)

Edit: Does 90k include 19% tax ?

I don't know,Thats what I really want see though. I can't imagine the gap in HP between the Turbo, and Turbo S bieng so wide.

A metal roof? Why isn't it possible? I mean, we are talking about Porsche here. I am sure their engineers could have figured this out without a problem. There was a photo going around the internet about a possible roof collapsing into the back of the car. If they manage to push the back seats(not really seats, but the back area per se) to the front maybe they can fit it?

Who knows.

Will we see metal folding roof? Yes.

It is no longer rocket science to create a short and neat package that collapse into a small space. Go back 20 package or so and you will see a slide show of the roof being folded in a manner that reveals a hard roof. It over.
