Well, this is all I gathered from Sunday: production and launch dates.

It's official, we finally have confirmation of when the upcoming BMW X6 will be launched in the U.S. In case, you have missed our previous articles on theis wonderful brand new concept and design made by BMW, then feel free to read our articles on the BMW X6
MY 08' X6 3.5 Twin-Turbo
-Build: January 2008
-Launch: April 19th
MY 08' X6 4.8is
- May 2008
- July launch
No pricing available yet but my guess is that the pricing will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show in January '08

Why would the production start in January 08 and launch in April? Current X5 production started on Sept 28, 06 and car was at my dealer Nov 12th.

Also V8 TT will not be 4.8is, so not sure how much to believe those dates.

And, *** is this 3.5 tt.......How can they possibly post an engine with 3.5 liters? Surely they mean the 3.0 tt :|

Yeah they mean the 3.0, but they'll call it the 3.5i as in the same way they do for the 335i, which really should be the 330i.

But BMW doesn't do that with the model series' that start with a letter (currently X- and Z-models). With these models the engine displacement is marked correctly. 3.0si would be a logical choice as the diesel versions are named 3.0d and 3.0sd but it is already used for the NA version of the 3.0-liter petrol engine.

Yeah that is true, we'll see. I seriously doubt there is a 3.5L engine though. They might be changing the rule you speak of for the X6?

Pair of BMW X6's Shredding Sand Dunes in UAE

Only two days after the closing of the Dubai Motor Show, loyal WCF reader, Talal, while riding his quad in the desert had stumbled across two X6 prototypes slicing up the sand dunes. As a BMW enthusiasts and X5 owner, Talal managed to talk with one the test drivers and tried to get details about X6 production, but unfortunately he refused to give anything away. After seeing the pair of X6's in action Talal says, “The cars were running very nicely. I myself have an X5 and it doesn't perform as good as i saw the X6's perform in the sand.”

You are right, they were alluding to the tt 3.0 I6 engine (N54) and not a 3.5 natural aspirated engine in-line 6 engine.

And speaking of the 2009 BMW X6 --

In addition to what we're told is the "BMW V5" we've also got some shots of what does appear to be the X6, courtesy of our friendly neighborhood tipster James. The enterprising photog caught these shots of the new big-rear-end crossover sedan on southbound I-75 just before the I-640 interchange. Full spy report from James after the jump. In the meantime we'll just add these shots to our ever-expanding gallery of X6 photos caught round town.

Saw this CUV on I-75 south and I-640 east at 5 pm on Friday, 11/23. Not sure what it is, but the logo on the hatch is blacked out. South Carolina plates. Couldn't get in front of it to get that picture; the driver was moving through traffic pretty good and I was going faster than I was comfortable for the traffic level. And once the driver noticed I was taking pics, I wasn't going to catch up.​

Don't you just hate it when they try to sneak away from you?
