X6 Spy Pics: X6 SAC Production Car (part 3)

The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV by German automaker BMW. The BMW X6 is the originator of the sports activity coupé (SAC), referencing its sloping rear roof design. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all-wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (styling featuring a sloping roof).

Ok, let's continue the discussion with the last spy pics from the old thread, and then post newer ones right here. The car still has a few more months of development time left, and we are bound to see more of the production car with even less cladding.

Spy pic thread part 2 is now closed

Am glad this car turned out nicely ... it gave me more choices for my next car

Some new pics from the X6.

Almost ready! BMW X6

Almost ready! BMW X6

Last September, the BMW X6 Concept was revealed in Frankfurt. Now we can say that the exterior of this Sport Activity Coupe hasn't changed a bit or very little. Our photographer, Gawid, has been hanging around at the Ring last week where he has spotted this example.

BMW found its X6 on the X5. The platform is not the only thing that is common with the X5. Some engines also found there way to the new model. There's very little know about the range of engines. The Bavarian make hasn't made any information about the engines known yet. We can assume that these engines are more or less the same than those of the X5. According to the people of Autobild, the most basic model will be a 3.0 litre twin-turbo engine with 306 hp, from the 3 series. Obviously, there are also diesel-engines; probably with a 3.0 litre turbo engine. The X6 is longer and wider than the X5, so it doesn't really have a sporty look.

Dynamic Performance Control (DPC) is a new technique that is applied in the X6. Due to the DPC, the car gets a steady roadability in all possible conditions. The system makes sure that oversteer and understeer are reduced to a minimum without any hesitation by adjusting the driving power. To do that, the systems co-operates with the four-wheel-drive system.

It's also clear that a hybrid-version of the X6 is coming: the X6 ActiveHybrid. BMW says that this technique is 20 percent more economical than those of comparable cars with a traditional drive. The Two-Mode Active Transmission is used for that. Due to this Two-Mode Active Transmission, there's made a distinction between low and high speeds. The system adjusts the gear-ratios during the driving when it's needed. This Sport Activity Coupe will be built in Spartanburg, South Carolina, America and will be in the showrooms in 2008. Prices are not known yet but the price in the States is probably around $50,000. That's a laughter with the present currency of the dollar. Let's wait and see what BMW still has to announce...

Going to be hot. BMW is going to be in quite a good position in 2008 with all this new and exciting product coming, especially in the U.S.

Any visual differences between the X6 concept and the near-production ready X6 pics we're seeing here ...besides the elephant ears ofcourse ??

Any visual differences between the X6 concept and the near-production ready X6 pics we're seeing here ...besides the elephant ears ofcourse ??

- different (bigger) side mirrors (identical to X5 side mirrors)
- exposed / visible C- & D-pillars (Concept cars had hidden them behind the glass)
- CELIS LED strips in the rear lights instead of he new LED layoust (as also seen on Concept CS)
- roof rails (optional equipment)
- 19" or 20" wheels (21"wheels are optional)

:t-cheers:

just look at the spy pics, you imediatly notice that the real car, won't look anything like the scans
and as it has been said, there are hardly going to be any differences to the concept car

Jack, those pics were seen 3 months before we all have seen the concept, and my opinion is that at lest the front was spot on.

:t-cheers:

Tyc,

the production car will be identical to the Concept car - except:

- side mirrors (bigger on production car)
- tail light lighting tech (CELIS LED & standard bulbs on production car)
- hidden B- & C-pillar (will be exposed & visible on production car)

All the other features seen on X6 Concept will also be featured on production car - eg. as optional equipment (eg. roof rails, chromed / alu parts, wheels etc).

So, the pics you've posted are not spot on. The front is way too X5ish (check the headlights / front bumper), tail is off (window too upright, tail lights wrong, bumper & gate also not correct), side also not OK (C-pillar incl Hofmeister kink off), roof not oupeish enough etc.

I remember picking up that issue of Auto Klub during the summer and thinking that I hope it'll turn out as good when it comes out. When the concept was unveiled, I thought, wow, it looks even better. Except, I must say, I'm more fond of the tail lights in this rendering than that of the real deal.
