Maserati Quattroporte Facelift Spy Photos

Maserati appears to be working on a facelift for the Quattroporte. This prototype was photographed in Germany as it tested on, and around the Nürburgring race circuit. The changes appear to be focused on the front fascia with a small alteration to the rear bumper. The camouflage suggests that in addition to changes to the front bumper air-intakes, Maserati stylists may have made some changes to the Maserati’s overall grille shape, and to the headlights. The changes amount to the normal mid-cycle facelift, which should go public late this year, perhaps at either the LA or Detroit auto shows.

I hope it won't be major. I'm guessing the headlights are going for a cosmetic change, to mimick some of the GranT shapes. And the grille too.

james, is the granturismo still on schedule for launch end of july in sin city as u mentioned earlier?

Fancy you calling my country sin city. :D

Yes, mid-July, not sure whether there will be test drives though. If there are then we're the first in line. :t-drive:

Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

Spy photographers have captured images of an update Maserati Quattroporte. Coming on the heels of the recently introduced GranTurismo, the Quattroporte's face lift should incorporate some of the coupe's design cues and be fairly minor. Updates are expected to include a revised grille, bumper and headlights. The rear bumper could also receive a slight update.

It remains unclear if Maserati will also update the Quattroporte's interior, although the car's powertrain is expected to remain unchanged.

Spy Shots: updated Maserati Quattroporte due early 2008

It would be hard to argue that Maserati has been getting lazy with the Quattroporte. Following its unveiling at the 2003 Frankfurt show, the Quattroporte went into production in 2004. Since then, Maserati has kept it fresh by introducing the Sport GT at Frankfurt 2005, the Executive GT at Detroit '06, the Automatica at Detroit '07 and the sharpest-yet Sport GT-S at Frankfurt '07.
In today's market, however, not even the exquisite lines of the Trident marque's four-door sedan can go without a visual update for more than four years. To that end, Maserati is expected to debut a mid-cycle facelift for the Quattroporte sometime in early 2008 – and that's coming just around the corner.
This second set of spy shots, following the earlier ones we reported a few months ago, show that the focus of the exterior modifications will be at the front end, which is expected to follow the example of the Quattroporte's two-door stable-mate, the GranTurismo. The rear end is also anticipated to benefit from a little nip-and-tuck, and although the interior is one of the finest in the business, one might expect Maserati to rework some magic inside, too. The sonorous Ferrari-sourced V8 engine and smooth ZF-sourced six-speed automatic will likely carry on unchanged. (That's a good thing.)

Re: Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

Forever young

Okay, so we have spotted disguised Maserati Quattroportes before, but never did we see one as heavily covered up as on these photos. What is Maserati hiding? A more extensive facelift than initially planned, or has Maserati tried to pull one over on us?
This prototype seems to be hiding a new front end, bigger headlamps and bigger air-intakes in the revised front bumper. Our spies also expect to see new engines with direct fuel injection in order to ensure better fuel economy, after all lower fuel consumption is the trend these days.
The rear had some black tape disguise too, so we can expect a few alterations on the back bumper as well. The Maserati Quattroporte is going to have some tough competition in the near future with the new Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide so keeping the car looking fresh and new is vital. The next-gen Quattroporte is not due until 2012.

Re: Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

New photos, not showing anything significant though.

The Maserati Quattroporte looks set for a more extensive facelift than we were expecting, if these latest spy shots from Italy are anything to go by.

Our spies say they’ve not seen such heavy cladding on a Quattroporte prototype before, which suggests that the 2010 model’s front end will be heavily reworked. A new-look grille should bring the Quattroporte’s looks in line with that of its more aggressive sibling coupé, the GranTurismo.

Meanwhile, bigger front air intakes will feed a new direct-injection engine, likely to be related to the unit that powers the recently unveiled Ferrari California.

Further camouflage around the rear end of the 2010 Quattroporte indicates changes there, too. We’re expecting LED rear lights and a third brake light added on the bootlid lip.

Maserati will face stiff four-door competition from the likes of the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera come 2010, so it needs to keep the Quattroporte competitive until an all-new version arrives in 2012.

Re: Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

I really hope they will change these ugly and dull headlights, imo the biggest flaw of the actual design.

Maserati Quattroporte Facelift Spied Uncovered
Through a Dutch community website, Autospots.nl have managed to get into contact with someone who knows someone who took these three images at the Maserati hometown of Modena, Italy. Sure the story is sketchy at best, but the pictures look like they may just be the real deal.

The current generation Maserati Quattroporte has been around since 2004 and has been spied numerous times testing around Europe. And as we had all expected, the Italians have reworked the front fascia of the car with new headlights, a new lower bumper and the grille seems to be slightly retouched with a less curvy top and bottom.

Our make-shift Italian carparazzi was not able to catch the rear-end of the facelifted Maserati Quattroporte but we expect matching changes. The Quattroporte will be eager to secure its market position before the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide join the scene before it will be replaced by the next generation model sometime around 2012.

Re: Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

Very attractive, the revised front end looks better than the current one. Good job!

Re: Spied: Maserati Quattroporte refresh

It looks fresh now, but I was hoping for more detailing for the headlights.
