Quattroporte Spy Photos: Maserati Quattroporte-based Coupe

The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door full-size luxury sedan produced by Maserati. The name translated from Italian means "four doors".
From Maserati Life, a letter to invite dealers for the new Coupe launch:

Modena, 14/02/2007

Dear xxxx,

We are delighted to inform you that from the 8th to 18th March, Maserati will be attending the 77th Geneva International Motor Show, which is to be held at the Geneva Palaexpo.

In Geneva, Maserati will be proudly presenting in a world preview to press and public the latest "gem" from the House of the Trident: a genuine high-performance sports model, which combines technical innovation with unmistakable Maserati styling.

The Maserati stand will also be displaying the new Quattroporte Automatic, including the Executive GT model, and the Sport GT version of the Quattroporte Duoselect. The other thoroughbred in the Maserati family, the GranSport, will also be on display.

As on previous occasions, access to the Maserati stand (Hall 1, stand 1053) will be restricted to just our clients. We hope you will do us the honour of paying us a visit.

They're not giving anything away but it sure is a subtle hint.

Renderings of the next-generation Maserati coupe have turned up, ahead of the car’s reveal next week and its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Italian website Quattroruote reports that the car picks up the simple tag “Coupe,” and these images suggest that Maserati has dropped Giugiaro’s Italdesign in favor of Pininfarina for the new model.

Though styling has been inspired by Maserati’s Quattroporte sedan, the Coupe will be getting a much more aggressive look and a unique rear-end. The car also grows in all dimensions over its predecessor and will spawn three new body-styles. Maserati will be building a 2+2 Coupé, a soft-top Spyder, and a four-seater CC with retractable hard top.

Under the hood will be a Ferrari sourced V8 engine displacing 4.2L, which is expected to be followed by a more potent model with a 4.5L V8 developing around 500hp. Completing the drivetrain will be a Cambiocorsa clutchless gearbox or possibly a new six-speed ZF unit with paddle-shifte

Italian style does it again, this is going to be hot!

I understood like this: the actual design will be unveiled only on Feb20. New designer, Pininfarina.

It'll be bigger and sleaker (not a big achievement, the old one looked like a press iron) It's based on a brand new platform.

And yet another mistery, the name. It is most unlikely it'll still be Coupé and nobody believes they'll resuscitate old names like Ghibli (Schade, Al Qaddafi would buy one) or Sebring (like the US/German piece of crap:D) So participate in our forum and guess what the name will be...

:t-cheers:
