3 Series (E90) Spy photos: E92 Coupe / E93 Convertible Facelift

The BMW E90 is the fifth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: E90 (saloon), E91 (estate/touring), E92 (coupé) and E93 (convertible). Predecessor: BMW E46. Successors: F30/F31 3 Series, and F32/F33 4 Series. Production: 2004-2013.
I´m starting to be afraid about the frontlights, they are the best feature of the current car, they are quite slim and sleek, they ones we are seeing in the spy pics don´t convince me at all, and the air intake featured on the render is not my cup of tea.

The front lights really aren't that different. They are slightly larger on the outer side and there's a small sharp cut on the lower part (that can also be found on at least 7er, X5, X6, X1 and 5er GT) but otherwise they're pretty much the same.

Are BMW not going to stretch the corner of the light down more like on the E46 Facelift?

Thanks!

I only now notice that the area of the headlights that's closest to the kidney grille is different than before the FL!
As for the L shape, I think it'll stay exactly like it is, you can pretty much see the shape through the tape...

Good eye on the brake light/turn indicator.

You're right klier, looks like tail lights will have same shape, only graphic will be different - with LED turn indicators and LED brake lights, similar to 7 series or Z4. I wonder if it will be possible to replace current tail lights with LCI's rear lights on E92 (pre LCI).

Oh, he meant that corner. I thought Vroom meant the outer corner where the turn indicator is located.
Yeah, the new E92 lights mimick the E46 FL in that way:) I think it looks great. Better than before even maybe...

Oops sorry!

I meant the corner closest to the kidneys :usa7uh:

Sucks that BMW aren't changing that...

The headlights doesnt need any changes, its perfect right now and sexy agressive.

IMO current headlights looks better than those on photoshop. Similar to E46 Coupe, I think pre-face lifted E46 Coupe looked more aggressive and better than face lifted E46 coupe.

They're nice, but change doesn't hurt. I sure don't like them as much as you!

Is there any reason why they're taking an eternity with this facelift?

Are the sales of the current 3er coupe/cabrio still strong that they're holding off on the facelift ? This facelift seems mostly cosmetic, so why the extensive testing schedule ?

It's just following the usual schedule. :t-hands:

Hmmm... must just be me. It just feels like, for a straight forward mid-life facelift, they've been testing this car for a while now. I'm sure there are some mechanical upgrades, but nothing that other BMWs don't already have, so it just seems strange that they're taking a while for something that's fairly straight forward.

On the positive side however, it's good to see that BMW are preparing an update M-package for the facelifted 3er C/C alongside the standard model facelift. Now BMW can release press photos which include both the standard model, and the M-package..similar to how Audi makes their vehicles seem exciting in their press releases by simply showing the car with an S-line kit.

I wouldn't rule out some new engines...
