Maserati, the upmarket Italian brand, released the new Quattroporte some months back, targeting the segment that is dominated by the Audi A8, the BMW 7 Series and the MB S-Class. Now that they have access to Chrysler's platforms though, they are planning to expand to the A6/5er/E-Class segment, with the Ghibli mid-size sedan that is set to debut in April's Shanghai Auto Show. It's the Ghibli that our spy photographers caught testing under heavy camouflage.
Despite the camouflage, it's easy to see that the overall shape won't be much different compared to the Quattroporte, featuring the easily identifiable corporate fascia and having a very sporty overall shape. Not much is known at this point, but it will be offered with Maserati's new turbocharged V6 and V8 engines, as found in the Quattroporte.
