Simple Question: M5 or M6 ??

I hate mod jobs for M cars. Especially when there changing exterior stuff. Tamper with the engine and ECU, but not the looks.

True, an SSL would be cool though... M could at least give us a one off show car???

no your right. I'd be interested. The M5 is a heavy car, and if they lightened it up and gave it a little more it would compete with cars like the GT2.

M6 all the way, much better looking, much more exclusive, better finish materials like the 7er and a better investment overall.
5 years after my M6 will be a lot more $$ than your old M5.

NO. No car appreciates unless in certain circumstances and even then it is very difficult. An M6 will not be worth more in a year after you purchased it. You took a hit when you bought it and it has depreciated it. It is a wonderful monster to have but don't buy it thinking that it will appreciate in any way or form but in your mind and how you feel about it.

In reference to this poll it is very difficult. So many of you have stated reasons for why you would want an M5 over an M6 and vice versa. Well I would like to have both but at the end of the day I would pick the M5. Why? Well if any of you are interested I will explain myself. The M5 is just stunning. The M6 is as well and I think the M6 itself stands seperate from any other car in its uniqueness but the M5 can hold its own.

The M5 is a 4 door sedan that can take over the world in just 5 seconds. The interior is stunning and so is the presence of the car. I just love the curves, muscles on the panels, rims, rear, front, seats, everything! I just can't get over it.

Not only that the old E39 M5 set an very good example when Madonna decided to take a ride with Clive Owen in one of the BMW Films most famous videos. Although that is not the same M5 that M5 set the standard for all other car manufactures, including BMW, to match it and make something better. Well BMW has made something better and that is the M5. The 4 door sedan that can be so powerful, some sports cars would not stand a chance next to it.

I can't get over the fact that there is a four door car with a v-10 under the hood that can change your life. Hey think about it like this. You have another couple that you are going out with tonight. You decide to option the M5 as the car to take out to dinner and to have a great night. Trust me the fun won't begin after dinner. It will begin the minute they sit in your M5. Or what about taking your in-laws over to a family get together in the M5. Your wife in the front, them in the back; or her dad in the front and the two ladies in the back. While you drive you will definitely have the attention to her father. He will marvel at the car and think "wow this is power. I am so glad that my son-in-law has taste".

M5 for me no dought. Never liked the M6. Other reasons include not that much attention, 20grand lower and 2 extra doors, way more space and only 150lbs extra weight.

If I need a large car the M5 is a perfect choice. If you dont need space and want a sportier choice then choose M6. Simply as that

No No NO NO , Hard question , VERY hard question . It took me ages to decide , finally I chose the M5 since it is a "practical supercar" , no no no ,the M6 , just love the looks and the exclusivness ... Hard Call !!!!!!!

As far looks is concern, the M6 indeed looks better than the M5.

However...

The M6 is just too damn expensive. It costs £80.000 that 20K more than the £60.000 M5.

There is something else too. The M5 is a 4-door Saloon while the M6 is a 2-Door Coupé.

As a family man, I shall think in my children...therefore I will take the M5 over the M6.
