The Genesis G90 is a full-size car manufactured since 2015 by Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Company. It is the flagship model of the Genesis lineup. A four-door sedan, the G90 is the successor of the Hyundai Equus and was known as the Genesis EQ900 in South Korea from 2015 to 2019.

Really a bargain
As Lexus did in the beginning, it offers the "same" much cheaper
Being fair put next to the Mercedes the Genesis still lacks that 100% aura, but of course we are comparing it with the most elegant car that exists today.

The youtuber is wrong, Audi, BMW and Mercedes offer the reclining front seat, perhaps not exactly the same but they offer it.

Also being fair, the interior combines everything offered by the Germans but in their previous generations (g11, w222....), but it cannot be denied that this Genesis is successfully made, I don't know if it will maintain that indestructible tank feeling of the Germans (high-end Hyundais loosen up and all their parts sound over time, like Peugeots in my experience)

In any case, it never ceases to amaze me how beautiful that front and the rest are, this car can be stopped next to the Germans not without sweating a bit and even in the background, but it owes nothing to anyone.

It’s not quite a LS400 type car or moment tho. The Germans are at the top of their game and the G90 doesn’t have the engine to compete either. It’s a cheaper car and you get less. The LS400 was the Germans equal in every way I could think of this isn’t imo.

The exterior design is very eye catching and is the standout feature of this car compared to its rivals. The interior also is nice, but in my opinion it doesn't seem very special or unique. You could sit inside the Genesis and then look at the screens and it reminds you of the W222, whereas the W223 interior you wont mistake it for any other car. The Mercedes also has a sense of occasion somehow that is just missing in the G90.

The lack of different powertrains is a weakness of the G90, only a 3.5 Turbo V6 is not good enough. No V8 and no Plug In Hybrid or BEV. The S450 with less power (367PS vs 380PS) is even quicker than this car, a whole 1sec faster to 100km/h. The S-class also has mild hybrid engines with sailing mode.

As for the driving experience, I am not sure which would be better, but I would think this comes close but for ultimate ride and refinement I think the S-class will pip it.

If this car would have a 500 PS V8 engine, i would take it over every S-Class, 7er, A8 anytime. This sleek design with those narrow lights is so crazy, so sporty, its perfect in my eyes. I wouldnt change a thing.
The interior is not as much perfect designed as the exterior, although it is nice with many details and high quality materials.
I would really prefer a diferent steering wheel.

Yeah the design is crying out for a real engine. I have got to see it in person before I add it to my want list.

I must say, I really can appreciate the "athleticism" of the G90's exterior. A very interesting looking automobile that manages to arrest the eye with several intriguingly unusual design "twists". Certainly more "sporty" than "stately" methinks. And we can probably be assured that the car's other qualities (especially fit/finish/material quality) will be top-notch as well.

SWB with a cutting-edge electric drivetrain...-and this could be THE most desirable current offering in it's particular segment.

Finally saw one today. It’s a good looking car to me now. Dealership situation still sucks. Trying to sell a 100K luxury car next to an Elantra with these terribly grimy salespeople. The brand deserves better.

Saw one up close in a make-shift standalone dealer. Manager said they should be in an upgraded facility in a year or so. For what it is, I was pretty impressed with the car itself. Quality interior, relatively well-executed exterior. Only thing I don't care for are those front fender lights trying to give the illusion extending the headlights into the fender. It's a quirky idea and that's it.

Where was this?

I look forward to scratching my luxobarge itch one day. This could be the car for me. Dough’s review of it won me over.

It‘s a more compelling proposition than any recent A8 or LS. The rounded buttons makes the cabin inviting and adds a subtle 1970 retro touch to the interior.

Genesis has their own exclusive dealerships. No Elantra in the showroom 😉😉

No they don’t nationwide in America. They have just a handful at best. What you’re showing isn’t even a “dealership” to begin with.

You don’t seem to understand here. I didn’t say that they WERE NOT building their own dealerships. I’m saying that RIGHT NOW the overwhelming majority of their dealers in the USA are Hyundai dealerships. So what I said is exactly true. You’re on google, I drive by the actual dealer and have done so in several big cities here. You don’t seem to understand the difference between an actual dealership vs a showcase/studio. There is huge difference and one or two here and there is irrelevant to their actual dealership body.

I live in Munich, i didnt just drive by, i was there. And you can order and testdrive all Genesis cars at their studios (their name for dealership). As for inspection, they come for your car, bring it to the service and get it back to you. In the between time you get an substitute car, also Genesis.
Its a total different story and customer experience as at the Hyundai dealerships. Its the most high level, even Bentley dont offer such a service and it was written about it in many German magazines about that.

I’m not sure what going on about here. They don’t have a string of studios all over the world. It’s not the same as a normal dealership anywhere in the world. I honestly don’t know what you don’t get. A studio is not a dealership body. It’s one studio not a normal dealer setup. The majority of their dealers here are at Hyundai. They have about 10 stand alone franchises nationwide out of hundreds of dealers. You’re talking about ONE setup. It’s not the majority or norm. Doesn’t matter if you were there or not.
