Genesis G90 Second-gen Genesis G90 Revealed

The Genesis G90 is a full-size car manufactured since 2015 by Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Company. It is the flagship model of the Genesis lineup. A four-door sedan, the G90 is the successor of the Hyundai Equus and was known as the Genesis EQ900 in South Korea from 2015 to 2019.
This new G90 could be the biggest rival to the big German luxo barges since the original Lexus LS400, if Genesis has made it drive as well as it looks.

It won't be be because Genesis doesn't have the retail footprint and the Germans aren't asleep at the wheel and it it doesn't offer the type of value the LS400 offered towards the Germans. The LS400 was arguably a better car for less, that isn't the G90. It won't even have a V8 which many will say isn't important as far as sales, but it's what helps the imagine of the overall car. The current LS suffers because of this omission. It's not going to be a threat to anything, even as nice a car it is, and I say this is a fan of the brand. The LS400 moment was a once in a lifetime moment/happening. They offered a 250hp V8, full size luxury sedan for the price of a 190E 2.6, around 35K. Think about that for a moment.

Probably I good car, but somehow I never was really interested in it; not now, not in the past. Interior looks very good, obviously use of good materials, but the driver screen looks rather small.
Yes, this driver screen is an eye soar. It ruins the flow of the dashboard.

The Lexus LS is as rare as frog's teeth in my neck of the woods. Still, the car fascinates me. It's simply so different in terms of exterior design and surely offers a vault-like fit and finish + material quality that is miles ahead of its' German competitors. A pity that the LS is not at all popular here. Lexus is all about SUVs'/SACs' in Germany.

It’s not popular in the U.S. either. This latest generation isn’t as smooth as its predecessors, is more cramped in the rear seat than before, and lacks a V8. They tried to make it more sporty and it just ended up alienating previous buyers.

Yep, that is exactly the LS' case in the U.S. I like the LS500 F Sport, but that isn't what made the LS400, LS430 and LS460 so coveted by it's owners. A LS F V8 would be nice if that TT V8 ever appeared.

I’m shocked there is no official video from Genesis of this car??? Wtf??

Looking at the configurator there are some nice paint colour options for the exterior and also interior leather colour options are great. I wish they had more wood options, there is only the open pore type in brown, light grey and Ash dark grey, no veneer or walnut sheen types or metallic aluminium or carbon fiber trims.

Engine only 1 available 3.5 V6, here are some specs. The standard car has very similar dimensions to the LWB S-class while the Long G90 is virtually the same size as a Maybach.

Luxury is all about tactical functions and the appearance of hardware and how the hardware feels to the touch. Touch screens can never convey that feeling.
Touch screens sell cars though.

S-Class in South Korea is having 2 times higher sales numbers than Genesis G90, despite costing 2 times more than the G90 and is drawing a younger consumer base than many other F-Segment sedans.

The more I see it, the worse it looks. Similar to other Genesis vehicles IMO. I loved the GV80 when it was revealed a couple years ago, but now seeing them on the road they appear dated and bland. I will credit Genesis for trying hard though; They have products leaps and bounds above Lexus.

I'll do my level best to articulate why I like this design.....

I really like the proportions of this car. The height of the portion of the car's body before and aft relative to the DLO/middle of the car spot on.
