F1 Schumacher will replace Massa

Formula 1 news, races, teams, drivers, technology, strategy, and discussion.
If you put both of them in the same car Hamilton will have his ass handed to him. As good a driver as Hamilton is he ain't sh!t, and no one else besides Alonso and may be Kimi, who can take on guys like Shumacher. What all these people have is Experience in 1 on 1 fights that has not happened since Hamilton has come in F1. And even then there have not been 1 on 1 fights since early 2000s.

I have to disagree, not only with u saying hamilton will have his ass handed to him, but to everything u stated. Hamilton is tons better than any other driver in formula1 today. As a matter of fact, his driving attitude is so similar to that of shumacher ... I hope this is not a black and white thing, lol, because i just love the brothas to death ....:D

Now i know shumacher might not be as young as he was, but its a dream come true to see shumi vs Hamilton :usa7uh:

If Hamilton drove for Renault, yo guys would even mention him. Hamilton=Mclaren=Mercedes and 'bang' you guys think Hamilton is the best. Vettel kicks ass if he gets a proper car.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand all the discussion.

You have a two-times world champion and a rookie in the same car, the rookie finishes ahead of the champion two third of the times. How can someone say it's not an amazing achievment? Nobody expected that.

Alonso is a superb driver, but I'm sorry Hamilton proved he can beat him despite an absolute lack of experience of any kind. That is what makes a true champion.

Kimi is regularly beaten by Massa, so he's not the unique champion either.

Vettel's been impressive, and Hammi is for me the best driver currently in F1.

He makes amazing overtakings, starts from the bottom and finishes on top, is fast on the dry as on the wet, and sings while driving Top Gear's Daewoo: he's the man!

So far all he is proved is that if you have talent, went straight to a top team and have one of the best cars on the grid...you can win many races.

Thanks you, got you there:D

Hamilton didn't get a Mclaren seat by being good at baking scones or Yorkshire pie. He's always been an exceptional driver. Your argument is very wrong. Bruno, Nakajima, Rosberg and Piquet were all born to become F1 drivers long before they were born and never had to prove anything. Piquet didn't even win GP2 but still got a racing seat at Renault eventhough he was a premature F1 driver and still is. Money does not guarantee success in winning races. Talent does and that's what Hamilton has.

The Hamilton-has-a-good-car rant does apply as driving a top car is quite a challenge given the expectations the team and the audience have on you. Hamilton faced major challanges in 2008 constantly getting penalized by FIA for every mood, but still managed to clinch the championship. He did win from pole and even not from pole countless of times He's a made man. Neither Heikki nor Alonso managed to beat him. Further more who has ever won a championship in a crap car? If one is winning races on a streak and even a championship then the car is clearly not crap, and Alonso's wasn't in 2005 and 2006.

The results speak louder than any word I could tell and if people disregard the numbers then you're just living in denial. Lewis has proved he was more than worthy of a Mclaren seat and has accomplished everything and more than Mclaren would ever had expected of him.

I used to like Hamilton in the first year, but not anymore, especially after the lying shit. But credit where it is due, he is a fantastic driver and probably along with Alonso (who also I am not a a fan of after his ratting his team out) the best in the grid right now. Vettel definitely has the potential, but yet has to go someways to prove it. Same with Kubica. Kimi, shows flashes of brilliance but I doubt he is in the same level. Schumacher, who again I was not a fan of till he retired, is above all these guys as far as I am concerned till one of them proves otherwise by having his consistency.

Another promising driver to look out for is Nico Hulkenberg. He's done excellent in his racing career so far and is managed by Willi Webber. Currently he's a test driver for BMW but his dreams of getting a seat in 2010 evaporated with yesterday's bad news. I see tough times ahead for F1 drivers as Super Aguri closed up shop last year and BMW is to walk the same path at the end of this season. For GP2 drivers this is demoralising because an F1 seat is not guaranteed even if you might have won the GP2 championship.

Formula One badly needs 2-3 new teams to join next year, though the qualifying sessions will need to be extended another 5-10 minutes to avoid congestions.

Believe it or not, i was rooting for Hammi to whoop Alonso's @$$ when they were at Mclaren. He was quick, very natural, and down to earth. Then came Monaco, and how he was bitchin about Ron Dennis not allowing him to challenge Alonso for the win ( they were 1-2 ), and that was it. My respect for Hammi just went away.

His lying sh!t, and costing someone who worked with Mclaren for over 20 years was the final straw.

Back to the topic, it would be really silly for anyone to compare MS vs Hamilton, just like how silly it is to compare MS vs Senna. Different eras IMO.

I really don't know what to expect here. I'm just so bloody excited to see one of the greatest driver of all time make a comeback. Yet, neck injury, potentially not 100% fit, new rules, new regs, been outta the car for over a year, and never tested the F60 all stand in the way of MS. Yet, it would be really interesting to see how MS deals with it.

Everyone in the past has been talking more of Kimi vs MS, not much of MS vs Hammi. I'm really looking forward to see if MS can win in the F60.

I agree. I actually think someone will come up and rescue BMW, something like Ross Brawn did. Don't forget, there were 10-12 new teams who applied to race in the F1 championship next year, and only 3 got. I really hope Prodrive will rise from BMW's ashes.

I don't care if Schumacher finishes 13th in every race. Or crashes out.

For me it will simply be a privilege to see the great man behind the wheel of a Ferrari Formula One car. Jeez, do I pray for at least a podium. Just for those sensational post race interviews. No one could do it, or say it, quite like Schumi.

^What an avatar! :D

It seems Kimi will be retiring after all...

Schumi is one of the very greatest drivers of all time.

true, but we shouldn't forget that he also had the best car those days. also the team itself was a completely different one.
so i really think that its not going to work out for him. i hope i am wrong, but he could seriously harm his reputation

at least we could see the little schumi(vettel) beat the old one :D

I didnt say Hami is best. I think its the Hamilton=Mclaren=Mercedes that makes you think thats what we're trying to say. ;)

Give the kid credit, he deserves it.

I don't think anyone on here isn't giving him credit. I, personally, think he is VERY talented, but I don't agree with people saying that he is best on the grid right now or even that he is on par with Schumacher.

I believe he is, easilly. Im actually glad shumi is back to make it a bit more interesting ...

Is it even official yet? I haven't seen any official word except the rumormill churning.

Naaa...But he did say he's open for full time rallying in the 'future'.

Anyways :

Doctors have ruled out a return to Formula One this season, but Altman said Massa was already sending signals to Michael Schumacher that his comeback may be short-lived.

Ferrari announced Wednesday that the German seven-time F1 champion would come out of retirement to replace Massa until he is fit to return, starting with the European GP on Aug. 21-23, in Valencia, Spain.

"He has no fear at all," Altman told reporters outside the hospital. "He thinks he will be able to race in Valencia."

You have to got some balls to put on the same level one of the greatest driver ever (for me the only one that can dispute him that title is Clark) with Alonso, Hemi & Kimi. I simply would like to see him in shape physically cause talent and speed wise, he's above everyone in the current fields by a mile.

Now that's ballsy right there. Hope he recovers quick and if he can't race, at least makes it to see it live. :t-cheers:

Schumi or no Schumi, i'd really like to see Massa take the rest of the season off. Another accident and he might put his career to an end. Whats the point anyways? He's not in the WDC contention, and so is Kimi.
