TT Rumour: Audi TT-RS Plus


+20 hp?!

Audi C5 RS6 Plus (480) was 30hp over Audi C5 RS6 (450)
BMW 335is (326) is +20hp over the 335i (306)
and for both of those upgrades the manufacturers chose to add additional radiators.

I don't think you can compare the (far more impressive) after-market hp gains with manufacturer ones. Manufacturer's have to worry about engine reliability and longevity.

The TT-RS coupe is already quite quick. +20hp and weight reduction is what would make it interesting.
 
But this upgrade is unnecessary, I don't think the S3 Sportback will ever competes with the a TT RS S-tronic's 3,9 s 0-100 km/h time...

Hold on, it just occurred to me that perhaps this upgrade is necessary because Audi knows the (cheaper) BMW 1M's performance now:D. This rumor just became more plausible in my mind.

I hope there is a TT-RS Plus. And a BMW 1M CSL in reply!
 
This is old news, from the day Audi decided to bring the TTRS stateside these hp figures where released.
 
Not sure how they can make this car any lighter seeing as the front end is all aluminum already. Im struggling to make mine lighter, only thing I can think of is alloys, brakes, and seats!
 
Are they not suggesting that Audi will use the lessons learned from the R8GT and switch some items for carbon fiber, items like the bonnet, boot lid, switch seats for light weight ones, they may also switch the rims for lighter ones. Who knows they might get as much as 50 kilos out of it and even combined with this modest hike in power the car could show a sizeable improvement.

After reading what was said about the Quattro prototype I wonder whether even with a modest weight saving what ever it ends up being that if it's done right could make a remarkable difference.

I love the whole idea of it but can't help thinking the performance won't live up to the probable price difference.
 
I'm hearding the weight saving is genuine, so along with the power hike it could make a very good car become great. :usa7uh:
 
Carbon body parts would only make for a minimal weight saving over the ali.

The biggest gain of loss weight would be from the seats, proper lightweight buckets upfront and no rear seats, plus 20hp powerhike is my guess.

Also hearing that they might change the brakes.

So basically this TT will be what my TT is slowly turning into, just slower :D

I read somewhere the TTRS Plus will also shed 70kg.Not sure if it's true or not.

Sounds quite feasible.

Audis' is reportedly currently developing an optional sports package named Ultra. It is said that the Ultra specification will be offered on Audi S and RS cars, bringing weight reduction of up to 200 kg depending on model.

Trimming 70 kgs off of the TT RS sounds realistic.

Was there any mention of the RS5 receiving a similar treatmnet?
 
and soon there will be a SLK Black Series and what does BMW have? nothing!

BMW isn't in the performance war anymore. BMW lost it's soul when they started this whole "Efficient Dynamics and Joy" BS.


After owning around 14 BMWs in the family the past couple of years, our 2011 X5 will probably be the last.
