Mercedes Engines: New DI Turbo V6 and V8 (Rumour, Specs & Info)

Hi guys

Sorry to tantalise with the headline, does anybody have any information about whether these new engines (specifically the V6) which are rumoured to be introduced in June will immediately make it into the E-Class?

I'n in the market for a new E-Class but might be forced to go with the new 535i simply becasue the engine is much better..

You're definitely right. Moved this thread to the Mercedes Lounge and renamed it…

There will be a new V6 with direct injection (M276)…and probably it will be first in the CLS Facelift…

The new CLS is due for Paris, so expect for official preliminary details and photos to appear after mid-2010.

According to jesmb.de, the CLS (C218) will be launched in September. Checked also Mercedes dealer homepage, but there isn't any date defined.

Any rumors for the specs of the V6 turbo engine? Like 330 hp and 650 Nm sounds good for a MB 3.5 V6 turbo...

Don't know what they've got planned, but I know what I'd like to see:

3L V6 - DI, naturually aspirated, 265-270hp - C300, SLK300, and new entry-level E300. for the U.S.
3.2L V6 - DI, Turbo, 315-335hp - C350, E350, ML350, new CLS 350, etc.
4.5L V8 - DI, Turbo, 400-425hp - S, SL, E, GL, ML etc. etc.

Furthermore I'd like to see the current 6.2L AMG V8 downsized to like 6.0L and upgraded to DI and kept in the smaller, sportier AMG cars - SLK, C, E. Let the CLS, S, CL, SL, ML (because its heavy) get the new turbo 5.5L V8. I know I'm dreaming here.

And please don't ever, ever remove the old supercharged 5.5L V8 from under the hood of the G55 AMG.

I think a future C AMG will have something like a 4L turbo V6. Not the massive 6.2 V8. That engine has given power to a lot of models already, so there is no need to milk it any further and completely ignore the downsizing trend.

Also, Merc, it would be nice if you gave a guesstimate for the torque figuers as well, because MB shines in this area always... I'm interested to see a torque number for the V6 Turbo 3.5 liter......should be 500 Nm at least?

according to JESMB.de the facelifted c class will have new 3,5 V6 with 306 PS (the old engine in the SLK already has that power, in the SL it has even more, so I personally see nothing new) and 3,0 V6 diesel with 252 PS. No mention of the turbo variants for the benzine. But I at least hope, because there is quite a gap between 306 PS and 457 PS, so something like 350 - 360 would be nice. The power for the new S500 is already known, the same sources that were right with the 544 PS for the new 5,5 V8 biturbo bet on 4,6 V8 with 435 PS.
