S-Class (W224) [Rumors] 2030 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W224 (Spy pics & info)

The Mercedes-Benz W224 is projected to be the eight generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan. It will replace the S‑Class (W223). Expected to debut in 2030. Production: 2030- (estimated)
People don't want authoritarian governments regulating everything... until they do.

We're talking about basic safety features which have been standard for decades until f#cking Tesla came along. Flush door handles and no buttons make cars factually more dangerous.

So it's AI, ShmayAI...

IMHO, this "AI slop" is an embodiment of what Gorden Wagener's (Bye, bye !) proclaimed "Sensual Purity" should have been and should be. No plethora of stars motifs, no clipped-on, pasted-on gaudy crap.

Taken for what it is, it simply looks great IMHO. The "AI Police" be damned.:p

Nah, boring. It still looks like the current S-Class with just different front and rear. I wanna believe that W224 is going to be much more than that.

Are you longing for an interpretation of the Mythos Iconic ?:

While I can appreciate a good deal of it's bodymetal surfacing, the proportions simply shout "Nostalgia" to me. IMHO, "Nostalgia" is not the most sustainably successful business plan.

I think Mythos Iconic creates a great foundation for the upcoming W224. Looks unique enough to distance itself from the current design language (with those side blades etc.)
It’s still too early to comment though, we’ll see if it’s gonna be something disappointing or superb.

I don't know, this "iconic" is based on the Maybach 6 from 10 years ago and is an even more retro interpretation. I think, IMHO, that the quantum leap should be towards more modernity, so to speak.
A company like Mercedes should make a bold statement.

Yeah, I agree to a certain extent, but I don’t think Mercedes will present something drastically different design-wise. They tend to play it safe, but again these are just speculations. I hope it’s something worthy of S-Class name.

Nothing will ever look as modern or futuristic as the concept vehicle it's based on, unfortunately.
The objective is for it to look and feel good inside and out. The rest doesn't matter

I don't see the next W224 S-class been a conservative design with links to the W223, as Mercedes normally make big changes after 2 generations of S-classes. This will be a new bold design for sure with major hints of the Vision Iconic. The interior is the part of the car that needs to really make a giant leap forward, no more cost cutting or built to a price look. There needs to be massive quality and build improvements with some exquisite materials used inside the cabin to make the S-class give the RR Dawn and Bentley Flying Spur a run for their money with its interior ambience.

True. The sclassis in a shrinking segment. Mercedes have nothing to lose by going bold.

Legacy matter less when the baby boomer generation who grow up cherishing luxobarges will, in 10 years, be too old or dead to drive an sclass.

Precisely. I'm firmly anchored in that generation. The "Indian Summer" phase of it actually. What surprises me is my relatively recent growing affinity for what I deem as being "competently designed" SUV and Sport Utility Crossovers. For example, the new BMW ix3 and soon ix5, the Porsche Macan-e and new Cayenne EV and even the current VW Tiguan. And the upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT SUV EV should be really special as well. To think that early-gen German legacy brand SUVs made me shudder. The first generations of Porsche Cayennes, M-B MLs and BMW X5s. "Trucks, Goddammit !". I still like a nicely designed sedan, Sportback or estate, but anything beyond the "E" segment just doesn't really seem so relevant any longer. At least not here in Europe. But a larger, luxury crosssover blending the elements of a sleek 4 door coupe and a shooting brake, low and rakish...now you're talkin' !
