RUF Ruf Rt12

Ruf Automobile GmbH (stylized as RUF) is a German car manufacturer. Formerly using Porsche bodies in white to build cars, today they build vehicles on their own bodies and chassis. They also manufacture performance parts for various Porsche models, including the 911, Boxster, and Cayman. Here i MUST give a credit to Zonda as well... Yeah, Just_me, the sound baby! CGT and Zonda are the best sounding cars on the planet. You simply cannot ingore the screaming sound that comes from Zonda's 4 pipes.... :icondrool  ;)

:t-cheers:

I saw the video with Zonda F and CGT and the CGT clearly rules in the sound department.

Yeah, i saw it too and they're both amazing. It's not just CGT that sounds great, it's Zonda too, man... You have to admit that.

I was kinda disappointed on the Zonda however I can admit it sounds nice but not in the same level as CGT

Did you guys see the video I posted on this RUF? The sound is alright but I expected more
(Not for Martin to read, CGT sounds better than the RUf as well)

Of course the CGT will sound better than the RT12 - it'll also sound better than the new 911 turbo too. So, can you tell me the primary reason for this Just_me?

CGT is an exotic and dont follow the same "sound rules" Its a V10 and not a Boxer engine.
I have absolutly no idea :t-hands:

Sure, that has a lot to do with it... but more importantly:

Turbochargers act as "noise suppressors" as they're directly in the path of the outflowing exhaust gas thereby significantly altering / muffling the exhaust pulse - this leads to significantly less noise leaving the exhaust outlets. Instead, the main sound experienced from a turbo'd car at full taps is a loud hiss or whooshing. The CGT is naturally aspirated and so it's glorious V10 crescendo isn't stifled by any sound-sapping turbines. There you have it my brother, NA performance engines will always sound better...

thanks for your explanation :usa7uh:

but the last thing, I think I know one or two here at this board that wont agree that NA always sounds better. :D

wow good explenation martin.. i guess thats true.. for most cases.. but i think there are more factors.. for example the SL55 kompressor sounds imo so much better than the NA V10 in the M5

Hmm, interesting - I'd like to hear from them as to their reasons.

Remember a supercharger isn't connected to the exhaust system in any way so the exhaust sound isn't altered. That's why an SL55 sounds so amazing.
The only trouble with a supercharged engine's acoustics is the somewhat intrusive whine of the supercharger itself.

Lol yes Artist is one of them :D

Ps, I disagree with artist ;)

It's a pity we're so way off-topic here... but to add to your comment Artist, when it comes to comparing the sound of the M5 vs. that of the SL 55 they're so different in character that it's impossible to say which one sounds better than the other.

Personally I prefer the sound of the M5's V10 actually but that means nothing, I guess it just reminds me of a bygone era in Formula 1.

well diffrent tastes i guess.. i like the supercharger whine..like in the SLR.. god damn that car has a sick sound..

PS
I love NA sounds to dont get me wrong.. like the ZOnda or the CGT..
i dont know why but idont really like BMW´s V10 sound.. to me the old V8 sounded better..

CGT is the car to get whne money is no object, as for the sound the CGT is off the hook, and as for the 55 Kompressor engines, it is one of the hardest sounds ever. Extremely aggressive even at low rev's. It makes people turn heads on the highway. My fiance was asking me the other day if people in other cars here what we here inside the cabin. Its a hard rumble. Very distinct and incredible fierce. In fact she tells me all the time how she loves the sound of the engine and exhaust as we drive. Especially when i really hit it.

Final saying,

I'm probably the only one here that experienced both M5 and M6, both from the inside and the outside and I also seen them racing.
M6 has a deeper/darker sound, more like a V8, it also sounds louder than the M5.
Both cars sounds great and I dont think anyone can deny that. There are easy ways to change the sound, an aftermarket exhaust will take care of that, for instance Hartge or Eisenmann. I would be happy with the standard sound but the Hartge version is simply awesome.
I can still hear the M5/M6 inside my head first time I heard time. You could hear them long way before you finally saw them. I will never forget that moment :usa7uh:

Anyhow, let stay on-topic boys :D

Is there only this orange colour for the RUF, a blue or black would be nice to see.
