Bespoke Rolls-Royce Dawn Delivered To Google Exec At Pebble Beach
The Dawn Black Badge is designed to reflect the paintwork of the Google exec's racing cars.
A Silicon Valley tech executive has taken delivery of a bespoke Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Benjamin Treynor Sloss, the vice-president of engineering at Google, was handed the car personally by Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös at the brand’s Collectors Cocktail Reception on Saturday night.
The car, which has been personalized for Sloss by Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood factory, bears the colors of the flag of Modena, in Italy. Sloss chose the yellow-and-navy paintwork to reflect the color schemes of his racing cars.
Rolls-Royce had to create two new colors to pull off the design, with the intense yellow being named "Superflare" for its resemblance of the California sun and the dark navy named Pikes Peak Blue in honorr of Sloss’ racing interest.
Inside, the seats have been adorned with dark navy leather, while bright yellow seat piping and RR headrest logos finish the look. Even the wood on the dashboard is blue with a yellow stripe embedded in the grain.
"Michael Fux showed me that Rolls-Royce’s craftspeople could create completely personal, outrageous but beautiful colour schemes, and when I heard about the sportier Dawn Black Badge, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to commission a very personal Rolls-Royce," said Sloss.
"Our racing cars carry the colors of the flag of Modena in Northern Italy. I wanted to see what Rolls-Royce could do with those same colors. The first time I saw the livery the Rolls-Royce team had created for the Dawn, I burst out with 'Oh my God, that's unreal – I love it!!' It’s outrageous, it’s over the top... it's perfect. I still grin every time I see it."
