If they make "big Maybach" in next 3-4 years I highly doubt it would go all electric. Probably hybrid.

I wouldn't worry about it.

This is meant to be a design exercise rather than a ready for sale vehicle.

Compared to a Model S (about half a cubic meter of battery pack), this has 3 less seats and probably 3 cubic meters of extra room for battery packs if they want.

Regarding aerodynamics, a Kamm design doesn't win if it's much shorter. The coupe version of this Maybach probably has a 0.25 CD which is more than solid.

Again, they will figure it out if they want to. They just haven't done it.

... Even a Model S with 691hp and 310mi range comes with the right aerodynamic shape and concessions that extend range.

... but this is not the best design for aerodynamics (kammback cars win every time) and it also has huge wheels. Just because you increase size the car doesn't mean the range increases with a bigger battery pack in a 1:1 ratio. ...

I was really liking it until I found out it's electric and electric cars are just plain useless.

Electric cars still need an entire age to recharge the batteries, where in a internal combustion car all I need is five minutes and I'm on my way again. On top of all that, electric cars are not as eco-friendly as bullshitters want you to believe; they are actually dirtier than any Hummer ever made.

They bring most of concepts to the series production.
This car isn't just showcase IMO.
I think that they are already prepared series version.
Maybe I am wrong, but that is my opinion.
Series version with different rear end and petrol engine instead, probably V12.
This isnt concept like this :

Which is clearly far from production, or better to say, no chances at all.
But this cabrio looks very close to production, in my eyes.

Exactly, being electric for such a breathtaking car is a huge no no for us petrolheads, anything less than a good old V12 wouldn't do for such a luxurious car imo..

They could, but Rolls-Royce already stated that they wouldn't go electric unless it's what their customers wanted, which it wasn't, or at least it wasn't 6 years ago when there were press drives of an all electric Phantom.

I tried shortening it a bit more and it's now right around 5.2m (similar to S Sedan but 15cm longer than S coupe and 25cm longer than the CLS). The one at the bottom is the original concept design.

I want to keep it at 520cm ish because any longer parking becomes a problem at many car parks.

Very good proposal of yours, imo. Your more realistic attempt addresses one major issue I have with those latest Maybach concepts: They are overly sketchy and make it hard to see the creative challenge. As someone who teaches design, I have seen lots of sketches and models that follow a very similar outline (not surprising, since it not only refers to historic Benzes but also Duesenbergs, Packards, Bugattis etc.). I don't know how a car with such design parameters (>6m in length, >2m in width, <1,4 in height, huge wheels, basically no rear trunk) could ever end up looking unattractive. These concepts don't even adhere to basic functional requirements (electric drivetrain, folding top etc.) so I take their undisputed beauty and presence with a substantial grain of salt.

Its awesome Gordon and his team is trying to push the design envelop but it would be more awesome if these concepts can be brought to consumers (not that i have two million euros lying around).
