GLB (X247) [Renders] 2019 Mercedes GLB

The Mercedes-Benz GLB (X247) is a crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC in size, however unlike these vehicles the GLB is equipped with optional third row seating due to better space distribution. Production: July 2019–2026. Model years: 2020–2026.
Finally something on the A platform i can get excited about.
Mercedes really needs to wise up and drop the GLA. It is an unnecessary variant. The regular A-class is a better option, and the GLA doesn't offer any real benefit or difference from a regular A-class hatch.

In fact, with the A-sedan. Mercedes could drop the GLA and CLA. Wasted model designations that don't really add to the line up.

Here in the UK and also in SA the GLA is actually a popular vehicle. It has advantages over the regular A hatch.

Taller.
Larger loading area.
Better on roads with potholes.
Has the higher look which these days people want and love.

Nope. The Q2 and GLA are entry level crossovers, the X2 is a class above.

Partially true.

Q2 is the entry class, GLA is somewhere in between, while X2 sits a class higher compared to Q2.

Eg. in Germany the price ranges list as follows:

Q2: €23.400 (1.0 TFSI ultra) - €36.350 (2.0 TDI quattro Design or Sport)
GLA: €28.940 (180) - €40.690 (220d 4MATIC)
X2: €34.050 (sDrive 18i Basic) - €51.750 (xDrive25d M Sport X)

Hmm, marketed differently, but very similar sizes and shapes:

Really? Based on what? Size? Until now I assumed the X2 was the entry-level SUV for BMW, just like the X1. Basically a coupe version of the X1, in the same way the X3 and X4 coexist, and the X5 and X6 coexist.

Cheapest Audi Q2: 1.0 TFI - £20,815
Cheapest BMW X2: 20d SE - £33,980

As you can see the Q2 is a lot more affordable than the X2 which is also reflected in the interior quality and optional equipment.

Oh com'on, you can't compare a 1.0TSI with a 2.0d engine variant in terms of price!

Give the X2 6 months for more engine variants to become available, and the price difference will be negligible.

I will eat my hat if BMW release a X2 16d.

I don't think you can solely use price as the determining factor. If BMW added another £10,000 to the selling price would you then say it's a Q5 competitor? Size-wise it's clearly a competitor with the Q2 and GLA.

When the selling price is so different, maybe it's because the X2 is overpriced? ;)

So if the next GLB it will start in the first 4-6 months from 43.000€ this means it will be X3, Glc league

Hi mate i think you meant GLA ?

I'm so baffled by this new GLB..where does it stand in the line up? is it what the X2 to X1 kina car or a whole new niche?
