Rapper Jay-Z Decides to Boycott Cristal

I don't think this is so much about racism -- afterall Hip hop is not just a black cultural phenomenon -- but the traditional French luxury brands can be very guarded and [perceived as] snobbish about their image. I honestly don't believe Monsieur Rouzaud was being racist, he probably doesn't even know who Jay-Z is.

Ive watched an interview with him before and I belive he is racist, just the way he words means he doesnt come out right and says it, but when I watched that interview I was pissed afterwards.

Well from all the evidence I have read, it doesn't seem like he was so bad ...it isn't a crime to not want to be associated with Hip Hop you know ....and, in spite of Jay Z's opinion, Hip Hop does not represent all black people or other minorities ....I'm sure their are many black people who also do not like Hip Hop at all.

If Crystal does not see Hip Hop as part of it's culture, then I don't really have a problem with that at all. Hip Hop does have some negative and thuggish aspects to it after all. Crystal obviously considers itself above the image of street gang violence and disrespectful attitudes towards women. It is refreshing to see a brand stand by it's tradition rather than just follow the money ...regardless of how pretentious or discriminating others might perceive them to be.
