Celebrity Drive: Rapper Pharrell Williams

^THAT was funny.

I have to agree with him on the point that these guys basically get paid for madness. However, that's not all hip-hop/rap. There are many artists that wrap sophisticated subject matter with rhythm and flow without resorting to demeaning and unsophisticated language (Common, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, The Roots, etc.). There are still many great hip-hop songs to be enjoyed by everyone in good fun and taste.

Many people often think of "un-PC" (sexist, crime-celebrating, vulgar, even racist) lyrics when they hear the term "hip hop", which I'd think is the root of the "problem". I don't think other music styles which originated from the African American community (soul, blues...) suffer from the same image problem.
True Mike -- however, my comment about racism wasn't being critical of Hip Hop -- but critical of some attitudes about Hip Hop -- you don't have to visit too many car forums on the net to encounter disparaging [and sometimes blatantly racist] remarks made about rappers and their expensive cars -- some of it is obviously pure envy of the material success of some Hip Hop stars.

This forum is so much more civilized than some others I have seen.

My ONLY problem with hip hop is the questionable subject matter of much of what makes it on to the charts.

I think that's a hasty generalization, because most of the "hit" songs that make it high up on the charts are all watered down PG material. You'd have to buy the actual album to get the distasteful content.

I did change my statement slightly, just before you quoted me. I believe the censorship in the US is much stricter. But that is not to say I am an advocate of censorship, I just believe that some content is not appropriate for certain age groups. For example I cringe when I hear my nieces and nephews singing along to songs like Timbaland - The Way I Are. "Baby if you strip you can get a tip...".

While it is the parents primary responsibility to ensure that their child is not exposed to material they feel is inappropriate, the fact that it is repeated anywhere and everywhere (in schools, radio, TV, internet), makes this very difficult.

But now were going waaaaay off topic.

The Phantom is so BLING. :D;)

That's the problem people are taking every word to literary. I've grown up to hiphop as well as many of my friends and our view on life has not been tarnished by the lyrics. It's the same case with watching a action movie involving knifes and guns, it doesn't change your mentality and such. It's really common sense.

That's one of the aspects I hate about Hybrids. As soon as an electric motor is stuffed under the hood of an engine people perceive it as environmental friendly which isn't the case. To me a car that's environmental friendly has a mixed fuel consumption of maximum 10l/100km, ideally it should consume no much more than 6-7/100km and such car would be a 1.6L Golf and similar.

The people who buy the GM Yukon Hybrid as some form of support for environmental is like taking Homer Simpson's approach towards a healthy diet. Marge made him eat 2 pieces of rice crips for lunch and Homer added multiple layers of ham, cheese butter and other stuff in between.

Lmao!! That's typical Homer behavious, very clever though.
