What was bigoted about it?
Objectively there are reasons why Qatar doesn't make much sense, and that's quite well demonstrated by the fact it had to bribe FIFA to get the competition in the first place.
Even if you defend Qatar's human rights and democracy issues, choosing a country that has to spend hundreds of billions on infrastructure, and having to move the time of the tournament into the regular season to NOT risk player and spectator health, when that country doesn't really have much of its own footballing heritage or fan base - makes very little sense.
That doesn't mean they didn't do a good job, and I'm pleased they didn't have to put up with absolutely shameful displays of f#ck-wittery by complete bell-ends like this:
